Temporary insurance

And that can come in many forms but the problem is who pays who and who has the right to make a claim. It could be because of who is underwriting. You're being refusing for a reason. Takes a lot for an insurance firm to refuse money.

How old are You? Had any accidents?

TBH the £77 quote is a bargain just considering the total loss liability on the car. I wouldn't take on circa 25K TL liability for a weekend for £77.

It could be the age, however I have tried the same details with significantly older ages like 25, 35 etc and still refused
I am 19 (today :) )
No accidents 1 year NCB

That's what makes me think It's something to do with the current policy. Maybe its something they have on file. 19 is probably pushing it on the car too so it could be the liability level.

The main thing is any policy you buy covers your arse and you get cover you're expecting.

Try these guys, they hooked me up a decent price.

Would my mum being the main driver on her policy and a named driver on "my" policy (the temporary one I would cancel) be a problem as well?

Alright
I'll give admiral a call tomorrow see if the registered keeper and owner of the car being different from main driver will be a problem

Just a long shot here but you could just wear a wig and dress, then claim you are your mother in the unlikely event of an accident ;)

You might have third party cover with your current insurer. If that's the case then you're covered from a legal point. I take it you can't add the Tiguan fully comp to your policy?

Its quite possible your bouncing off the max car value cap, some of these people have a max value they will cover.

The fact the car is insured elsewhere shouldn't be an issue, its pretty much the point of these types of policy, the normal policy holder doesn't risk their policy but allows someone else to drive their car.

Its supposed to be cheaper than hiring a car taking short term insurance, but at your age it may in fact be cheaper to hire a car for a couple of days.

Is that possible? I am insured with admiral on a fiesta so I can ask them to add the tiguan to it? Won't this be very expensive?
Don't have third party cover or not from what I can read from my insurance documents, probably because I am only 19 and I think you need to be 25 for this

Yes maybe, my dads A8 (2015) also doesn't seem to work for any driver/age....

Yeah possibly. Most firms offer third party cover on other cars. Call Admiral and find out.

Nissan offer a 4 day test drive on the LEAF - have to call your local dealer and tell them your parents want to buy you a car for your birthday in a couple weeks but need to know you will be happy with the car... ;-)

Edit: Bah! 25yo and over

Just rang admiral re their quote I got it down to 2000 miles a year and social driving only :P so its £953
Confirmed £25 cancellation fee and also no problem with the main driver being different from the registered keeper and owner of the car
