Temps, 1 out of every 20 is decent

Plus this is in the USA where basically joe average, working in a factory does 50-70 hours a week. And due to the union contract they can be drafted to work 4 hours overtime at the end of their shift with 40 mins notice.

With this revelation I can understand why the workers arent motivated.

My first proper job was factory work and at the start was ok, e.g. job wasnt a dead end people legit got promoted to full time employee status and even into highly paid higher roles, as well as no compulsory overtime, the work force was mostly reasonably motivated. Over time it declined and the year I left 4 years later, it was dead-end, and overtime was compulsory, I walked out in middle of a shift, which says a lot as the first few years of the job I was highly motivated doing well beyond what I was paid to do. I had observed many of the original workforce had left and most who were there were essentially doing the bare minimal they needed to do for their pay.

If you have no job security, you dont even get consistent work, you not going to feel attached to the company, the days the workers arent needed by you they probably working in some other place, so essentially they going to give you no loyalty and commitment, its the nature of the beast with employing temps.
