Just got an e2180 going in on an evga nforce ultra 650i motherboard using stock cooler.

Ran it for 5 mins and in BIOS went up to about 55 degrees. Is that right?

Fan is set to some auto thing. Running at about 1760rpm I think.

I did have a bit of a problem getting one of the cooler legs in to the motherboard. It's secure but one of them wouldn't click all the way in and there's no way of making it do so as when you press it the board just gives and bottoms out against the case.

thats a bit high i think mine runs at around 35c in bios with the stock cooler, i had trouble with the heatsink getting all the pins stuck down, push one down the other popped out but it got it sorted in the end

Hi. Well if Im 20c higher than yours then thats way too high isnt it? My heatsink cant be attached right. Have to have another go at it. I hope I dont have to take the motherboard out cos its well hard to get in and out.

'The EVGA nForce 650i Ultra motherboard gave me no problems throughout the review. All tests ran through without so much as a lockup although Super PI's 32M test refused to run without a Vcore increase to 1.3V. I also bumped the memory voltage up to 2.0V from 1.65V and the NB voltage to 1.3. The stock Intel cooler performed very well other than the noise the fan puts out as it amazed me in maintaining CPU idle temps at as low as 35C. During testing, especially with Super PI the CPU core temps were kept in the mid 50s with ambient room temps around 26C with humidity running less than 60%. That is much better than I expected from the stock cooler'

it should run at 35c when idle. That's with an e6300 though. Looks like Ive got it in wrong!

mine runs 25 degrees on stock cooler at 3.2Ghz so no, it's not right :P But you figured that out already by now I guess ;)

my 2160 gets upto about 58 degrees after 30 mins of orthos, usually sitting around the mid 30's at idle (depend if the mrs has heating on or not lol)

I must admit i used too much thermal paste, and could get it down by 5-6 degrees at least.

Im usng a thermalright cooler, from OCuk (cheapo 16 quid thing)

Guess Ill have to take it off and re-seat it then. Will that mean the thermal paste that was aleady applied will be buggered and Ill have to put more on which I havent got?

That's correct, got my e2160 at 2.2ghz and it idles at 35c and under load around 55c.

Get a tube of Arctic Silver. I always have a tube as I won't know when I'll have to reseat.

Sorted it. With the computer upright I got a torch and looked at each of the pins as they come through the back of the mobo. Saw that 2 were inly half in. Had to support the back of hte board by pressing something through the holes in the case and then giving them a right old press. And they went in.

Now runs at 35c

Thanks for the help
