Speedstep. It throttles the processor when the extra speed isn't needed.
This isn't fair, my processor was idling at 42C (hot room). After remounting the cooler and cleaning dust about 10 minutes ago, I am down to around 37C to 40C. Sounds hot, but this thing is running at 3.24GHz with 1.45V running through it. It isn't too bad for an E4300.
I ran @ 4ghz for the prime95 run only no point putting my Q6600 through that day-to-day for little real world benefit, I can run day-to-day @ 3.725 and have my fans at sensible speeds but again for surfing / messing around on games, etc... I dont see the point tbh Have the 3.725 saved as a profile in the BIOS so quick re-boot if I need some more power for encoding etc..
Nice temps mate - def doing well for summer. I had very similar temps in the winter, but currently idling ar 40,39,42,41 @ 3.6 (450*8) @ 1.49 vcore (in bios).
