Temps have started going up - advice for replacing cooler?

Hi,

I have a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 in a Be Quiet PURE BASE 600 SILVER case. It's been great for 4 years but recently playing games I could feel it getting hotter so I checked the temps - the CPU is hitting 90.6 while playing Oblivion. It's fine while in normal use, just gaming pushes it way up. I have checked and cleaned the fans, cleaned and re-pasted the CPU but it's not made any difference so I assume next step is to replace the cooler. Only other thing I have doen recently is go up to 64gb RAM. The GPU is 3090ti, that tops out at 75 in games (checking with Open Hardware Monitor).

The case was actually a bit of an issue as I ended up having to put the Arctic fans against the front of the case rather than the top as they were too big to fit there, so can anyone recommend a good cooler either physically smaller than that so I can put it on the top of the case or I guess air cooling if that is an option for this CPU? If I get one with 2 fans rather than 3 hopefully it should fit. Elsewhere in the case i have a fan in the back for intake and one at the top for exhaust.

Thanks -

Keep in mind you will likely need to setup case for air cooling. 3 140mm fans (2x front & 1x bottom intake) should do a good job. Seal all holes not covered by fans in front fan mount panel so air fans push into case has to flow on thru case and out back & top vents, not leak around in front of front fans going in circles.

If you don't have any, Arctic P14 are decent and very low priced at £6.95 each or 5 pack for £29.99 (that's £6.00 each). their 2.4mm H2O pressure rating means they flow more air at low speed thru resistance of grill and filter.

Set up case fans to cycle at similar rpm to temp as CPU and GPU cooler fans. This way as component temps rise case fans speed up with cooler fans, thus supplying cool case airflow to them.

Thanks - that's very comprehensive advice. Never done much with fans as the case is out of the way and not on show - I do have some extra Artic P12 120mm fans whcih I could use but I'll have a look at the P14s you suggested.

The case has a solid panel at the front and only vents at the side of that - maybe I need a better case but I'd rather not move everything over if I can help it.
