Guys he's running on air in a 540 case using on board gpu/4770K over clocked an getting temps of 23c idle an max 36c while playing bf4 on 1080p using on board graphics so the cpu is getting some hammer.

With an Oc of 4.5 or 4.6 ive told him there's some wrong with them temps, not true reading.

Also told him check bio's for update but been told its up to date.

what does coretemp read? I would say thats at least 30 if not 40c out 1.242v on air on a 4770k fully loaded id expect more like 75c, my 3770k at similar volts under water hits around 65c under load, however im not sure what bf4 does in terms of load is there a bottleneck or vsync on? maybe fire up prime too to see what that does

If that is a correct reading either its been delided or sell it to 8pack for a few grand cause its platinum

EDIT: One last option, do you live in alaska?

EDIT2: Just seen your wattage draw on the cpu 47w is nothing, these chips are rated at 85w stock im guessing loaded isnt in fact loaded

Yep, download the latest version of coretemp and leave it running while playing a game. Id expect temps in the 60's to 70's when gaming. Depending on case airflow, cooler etc.

30-40c at a desktop would seem about normal im guessing this chip isnt actually getting loaded and that if you were to load it correctly youd be seeing between 60 and 80c on it (still safe btw)

Pic is a bit small to read, but i can make out 51 and 49c i think on 2 cores. Just leave coretemp open and stay in full screen. It will record your max temp over the course of the rond. But those temps if max are astonishingly good for what are very hot chips. If you want to really max temps, you could try running intel burn test or prime 95 with the latest AVX instruction sets. The latter would be the safer option.

Paul go in a proper game of bf not test range, an your temps have already gone up for 36c which you said were your max m8.

There showing 50+ temps a 2 min run in test range wunna give you good/true readings.

OK, looks like 50c in windowed mode after what 5 min of gaming? sounds normal to me, full screen Id guess would add 10-15c onto that so say around mid 60s for gaming 75-80 for prime

priming for 1 min and hit 60c, leave it for an hour and see what happens my guess is 70+, short of it is its perfectly normal
