temps normal without cooler for 3930k?

OP you would have been fine if you just blew on it, quick sharp breaths though. I don't know the benchmarks but I have heard it gets better temps than the H100.

Blah blah :)
It's pretty obvious that some CPUs (especially that energo-efficient) might work with some downclock and undervolting completely passive, or even with no heatsink on.

Yeah, but maybe not when it comes to one of the most powerful cpu's on the market :p

Tbh, (and no offense intended to the op) this whole thing smacks of 'newbie buys stuff without fully researching first'. Vengeance ram and an H100 are dead giveaways :D
I'm a horrible person... :/

There are a lot of people who have H100s on here and are far from newbie's.

That's as may be, but you'll notice that a huge majority of newbs head straight for vengeance and H100's or anything with a corsair badge.
Well, I've noticed anyway :D

Either way, I'm not going to get into an argument about it :)

Just out of interest seeing as these ship without a cooler what does it say on the packaging about fitting and running the CPU?

Hi all new build with Sandy-E 3930k, still awaiting h100 in the post but thought i would switch on and install O/S as didn't think would get to hot but within about 2mins on sitting on the BIOS i noticed the temp was sitting on 80+ and i thought, that can't be right can it? and literally a monmet later the comp auto shutdown. Opened the case door and the CPU was roasting. I know Sandy's get hot but sitting idol within a couple of minutes getting hot enough to auto shut down, is that normal?
Awaiting H100 until i start up again as i dont want to damage anything. Any thoughts as to if this is normal or something else. Motherboard is ASUS x79 pro, PSU is OCZ 850W Gold + RAM is Vengence 1600 C9 (which gets auto underclocked by motherboard)

Thanks for the help

Let us know how you get on I hope this has a happy ending.:)
