Hiya

I'm struggling with SpeedFan to work out which is the CPU temp

See the following pic?

Is is the AMD K8 listing? Because I was told by sum1 on these forums that the CPU temp was the Temp2 option?

MOBO is a ASROCK SATA2-DUAL 939

I would be inclined to say Core is the actual CPU temp, whilst the one labeled CPU is actually a sensor in the CPU socket.

It should be the ' Core ' reading.

Download CentralBrain Identifier, A64Info_Beta or CoreTemp as they'll all show you the actual core temps. Then you'll be able to see which one in SpeedFan matches up.

might wanna get that seen to, check that heatsink is on properly.

i have a x2 4200 dual core and im worried bout my temps but for the other reason, they go so damn low! i mean core0 idles as low as 20 and core1 as low as 15

using speedfan or motherboard software? Because unless its outside those are false readings. Might as well be telling you its at -100 or 250 degrees for all the use that is.

coretemp* mate, only program i can find that will pick up the temps of both cores, i either get core1 or socket rather then the cores

I would honestly, seriously doubt your pc is actually idling at 15 or 20. That would mean your house would have to be about 10 degrees which is uncomfortably cold.

room is probably bout 15oc probably bout the same as it has been past few days with it being bit warmer, so its fairly warm to me. dont like it hot :(

only a few programs open (wlm, firefox, photoshop and winamp) so its not stressed at all, just running warm after being on for a while.

My X2 4200+ idle core temps are similar. Room temp is around 20c and low 20s are reported by CoreTemp etc.

My 4200 idles around there as well when on volts that low. However, I'm currently at 1.5v so it idles at 30+.
Wouldn't worry about the temp mate, seems about right

after checking with cpu-z it would seem that mine is at 1.5v, thought it was 1.35v but coretemp must only show the stock voltage not the current one

Most windows based apps can appear off by quite a bit at times.

At the moment I have vcore at 1.4625v in the bios and :

CoreTemp shows 1.325

A64Info_Beta shows 1.325

Cpu-Z shows 1.488

SpeedFan shows 1.46

CentralBrain Identifier shows 1.47

Everest shows 1.47

SysTool shows 1.46

( stock vcore for my X2 4200+ is 1.35 )
