Anyone use a memory foam mattress made by Tempur?

I'm a young guy and I don't have any back problems, but these just seem so amazing when trying them out in shops, but come with a hefty price tag to match.

Anyone have any experience with this brand mattress as opposed to another brand of memory foam mattress? It would appear that only Tempur have the rights to produce this very spongy type.

I'm in the market for a new mattress but can't make my decision and whether it is worth the extra cash, considering I don't need it for any medical reason.

I haven't slept on a Tempur bed, but my Mother In Law to be has one and she loves it, bloomin heavy matress though!

As for spending a lot of money on a bed...my philosophy is do it! You spend 1/3 or so of your life in it and nothing compares to your own bed, especially if its delightfully comfortable!

We upgraded our bed when we moved house a couple of years ago and each time I get in it, it still feels wonderful - worth every last penny. The only problem is when you go away on holiday or stay with family the chances are the bed will not be as good and you'll end up having a worse nights sleep than you are used to.

My wife recently bought a Tempur pillow, it was £75 for one but worth it in my opinion. No experience with the mattress but if the pillow is anything to go by I say go for it.

As mark66 says you get what you pay for, and since you spend a very long time in bed every day it's definately worth investing in a good one, a nice pricey bed is at the top of my priority list once I have some money

Our mattress is a Tempur one, absolutely brilliant, makes any other bed feel so uncomfortable. It is always worth spending money on something you spend so much time in.

Never liked Memory foam I find it makes me sweat a lot as it gets to hot, they are also a right pain if you are a resless sleeper as it takes a while to settle every time you role over and as a final point they are less fun when with a lady if you know what I'm saying.

Get a good pocket sprung mattress instead would be my advice.

The older stuff gets hot, but newer memory foam is much better. Our mattress is sprung, but with about 1.5-2" of memory foam on top. It cost quite a bit, but I think getting a good mattress is very important. Id say go to a mattress specialist and ask them for advice and try a lot out as memory foam can vary a lot.

Ours has a memory foam topper as well and I've not had anything like the same problem seems the better air flow or something like that helps.

I've recently bought a pocket sprung mattress with 2" of memory foam on top. I find it much more comfortable than a full memory foam mattress, especially the softer Tempur ones.

Go to a bed shop and have a try of the different types.

Did the same, couldnt get on with the tempur.

I like my mattress to be very firm, so I don't think I'd get one with the Tempur if I'm honest. I like the idea that someone else posted though of having a thinner Tempur mattress on top of a normal pocket sprung.

We've got a Silent Night mattress at home, was bloomin' expensive but I love it! :)

I honestly wouldn't mate, if the price tag is how much I think it is, not worth it.

I got a memory foam matress too recently because of back problems, £149 with free delivery and a pillow to match which was:

May not be as such a good brand, but hell its comfy enough for me and does the job, for at least a half decent price.

The difference between quality (tempur) and a cheap one is worlds apart, I have a tempur memory foam pillow, and a cheap one which cost about £15. The tempur one is about 3 times heavier, and a hell of a lot more comfy, and will probably last about 5 times longer going off the quality.

I've had one for the past few years and initially it's a bit wierd to sleep on and when you sit on your bed there's no bounce to it, but i've not had any back troubles since i slept on it

The one we have isn't 2 separate mattresses btw, but the mattress is actually designed in layers. The bottom is enclosed springs (each spring is wrapped in padding) and the top of the mattress has a layer of of egg carton shaped memory foam. The whole things is then wrapped in the outer layer.

Bought the top of the range £100 or so Pillow from them a couple of months ago. Since then I haven't had a troubling 4hrs of sleep as used to wake up during the nights from neck pain. They're heavy as hell though (a pillow!) and they retain heat horribly well, which isn't good for summer I guess.

I'd love to mattress of the same stuff!

We have a Tempur mattress and pillows... Worth every penny... My Girlfriend and I suffer some slight back pain from time to time and this bed really helps with that...

As already mentioned they are expensive and very heavy but they do have a 15 year guarantee IIRC so the extra expense can be justified IMO....

The thing I love about them is that you can't feel any movement from your partners side of the bed, it really is a very solid piece of kit, so if 1 of you is having a restless night or you just want to get in and out of bed without waking them you don't have to worry about being careful....

edit : Oh and if you have any health problems even something like Asthma you don't have to pay the VAT on it...

They're fantastic, definitely recommend one - I have one and my parents recently got one - would never go back!
