Hey guys, EE my mobile phone provider have emailed me with a nice xmas present to say thanks for being a customer. A voucher to rent any movie up to the value of £5 from wuaki.tv :) I've been through pretty much every movie on there which I'm interested in and shortlisted all the ones that are highly rated at rotten tomatoes. They all rent in HD at £4.49.

I've shortlisted 10. I prefer to go for one which is at least 2 hours long so I have something epic to get stuck into. So am considering 1 to 6. The ones that really look good are Norte, King of Devils Island and Touch of Sin. Anyone seen most of these and can give opinions? Norte is over 4 hours! Certainly value for money.

NORTE, The End of History 92% 4 hours 10 minutes

King OF Devils Island 93% 1 hour 55mins subtitles
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/king_of_devils_island_2011/?search=king of de (this one really interests me)

A Touch of Sin 93% 2 hours 5 mins

X Men Days of future past
92% 2 hours 11 minutes

Looper 93% 1 hour 59 minutes

Live. Die. Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow 90% 1 hour 53 mins

A Hijacking 95% 1 hour 39 minutes (apparently this is excellent according to someone on here)

Northwest https://uk.wuaki.tv/movies/northwest 1 hour 29 mins

Locke 89% 1 hour 29 mins

Afflicted 79% 1 hour 26 mins

Depends what type of film your after really. I'd recommend King of Devils Island but I've not seen NORTE or A Touch of Sin.
Looper is a good film but doesn't excel in any particular area and I also struggled with the special effects used on Joseph Gordon-Levitts face during the film.
For the rest of the films you listed they're good but nothing special although A Hijacking needs a replay due to a bit too much wine when watching first time.

I guess I want something gripping, tense and serious rather than the typical hollywood blockbuster. So I think X Men can be crossed off the list now. A Hijacking and King of Devil's Island seem to fit that criteria perfectly. There seems to be several glowing reviews on here for A Hijacking.

X Men is a decent film but very hollywood typical so you should rule that out. Like I say I've not seen all the films so I'd wait to someone more qualified comes along.

Thanks for the heads up! I just checked my emails and noticed I got a code too (am a T-mob customer :D)

OP, I've only seen 2 from your list though (Looper and X men) so I can't give a thorough recommendation from the list.

Off the wall suggestion.

The Lives Of Others.

Older movie, but absolutely wonderful.

Great recommendation but saw it a few years ago. Absolutely superb movie :)

13 Tzameti (the original not the american remake) is also brilliant if you haven't seen it.

Looper, great movie.

I found the newest X-Men was poor compared to X-Men First Class. Some awesome scenes in it, but enjoyed FC more.

Edge of Tomorrow is good too, much better than I expected.

Locke is cool, not to everyone's taste though.

^a plus one against looper. i gave up half way through which is unusual for me as i have a pretty low bar for what i'll watch to the end.

the only other film i've seen on that list is edge of tomorrow. i really enjoyed that although the ending is a bit WTF?? :p

Looper was pretty bad.

Xmen is decent, worth a watch, but not as good as first class.

I went into Edge of tomorrow with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised - not the greatest movie ever made but very enjoyable.

Afflicted was enjoyable but won't be to everyones taste as it's a found footage film, tiny budget

A Hijacking fills this request perfectly.

I also note that you have seen The Lives of Others so are happy with the sub-titles.

Go for it.

Definitely Edge of Tomorrow! It's a fantastic film

I really enjoyed Afflicted but EoT tops it

Hmm, decisions, decisions.. :p Opinions here seems to make it a close call between Looper, A Hijacking and Edge of Tomorrow. Wanna see them all!

About the marathon 4 hour movie Norde, no one seen that? Just wondering if it's worthwhile, particularly as it's so long? The main storyline sounds good

In the northern Philippine province of Luzon, a law-school dropout commits a horrific double murder; a gentle family man takes the fall and receives a life sentence, leaving behind a wife and two kids. At their best, Lav Diaz's marathon movies reveal just how much other films leave out.

emily blunt, edge of tomorrow/

let that be your difference maker:) Enjoyable film though as others have said, flip side my mind started to wonder off with looper.

Don't bother with Looper the so called finale basically creates a paradox that nullifies the entire film, that the writer completley ignores.
