Hi guys, I'm wanting to buy a mechanical keyboard (brown switches) however I can't decide if I want it tenkeyless or not. I like the fact that it's compact but I'm used to using the number pad. Has any of you done the transition?
I also really like the idea of having a white case with black keys but apart from the limited edition cm storm quickfire I can't seem to find any other one, especially that they're out of stock everywhere. Is there anything similar?
If not, how easy is it to take it apart and plastidip it? (Unless there's a better paint for a keyboard)
Cheers

I have a full size but wish I had gone for the tenkeyless, rarely use the number pad and using the top numbers feels more natural when typing I feel. Also lets you have your mouse a bit nearer, think that'd feel more ergonomical.

Ok thanks. It's what I was thinking as well. Tenkeyless ones are usually cheaper as well.
And any idea as to what to use to paint the chassis of the keyboard?

Oh. Don't know why I thought the whole numpad was gone.
That's perfect then! I literally never use the arrows

I was always under the impression tenkeyless came from the ten keys that were usually got rid of (4 arrow keys + 6 cluster with home/insert/del/end/pgup/pgdn). Numpad is 17 and the acronym kinda wouldn't work for that.

So I googled it and discovered you're right. Weird.

Either way, found the perfect needle in the haystack the OP wanted so winwin ;D

Quickfire TK is an excellent keyboard, recommended it to a friend who's never had a mechanical keyboard and hes never had any complaints about it.

I know they've got a white limited edition of it so I'm going to try and find one but not much luck at the minute. Or should I just get the black one and paint it?

I've been looking for a replacement for my G15 and wanted something mechanical and smaller, so after much deliberation I've gone for the Ducky Shine 3 TKL (MX Blues) as I never use the numeric pad. Hoping I like it as I have absolutely no chance of getting to a shop to try them out.

I was really pleased that OcUK offered me the choice of Royal Mail delivery, as courier delivery generally takes a ridiculous amount of time to get here.

I bought the quickfire TK thinking I wouldn't miss the arrow keys etc as I never use them. I quickly realised two things, first I did use them sonetimes and really missed them at first and second I soon adapted to the new layout.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that I find the numpad and arrows easier to use in the bios.
I'll see when I can afford a new keyboard. I don't need one. I just want one.
