I'm an avid festival-goer but my last tent was a C.O.W at leeds 2008 due to the mud, can anyone recommend me a good cheap tent with the following conditions?

* Sturdy, will last a few festivals
* Inner room/compartment

My last tent had this, and essentially the whole tent itself had one outer layer, then two inner rooms/compartments that you clipped in; This meant that the layers weren't touching, and condensation from outside didn't get in, keeping you nice and dry.

Not looking for anything more than that really, big enough for 2-4 people.

What tent have you got? Why's it awesome?

The majority of cheap tents these days all follow pretty similar designs. For simple summer festival camping anything you get is going to be good enough.

Your best bet is to go to your local outdoors shop, they will all have cheap tents that meet your requirements as this is a pretty common thing people will want to buy. They've even got them in big supermarkets these days.

PK!

Do you know if any of these cheap tents use this inner-compartment method? I'm not looking for anything special other than this, because this kept me warm and dry on a huge amount of occasions in hot/cold/wet weather compared to a couple of tents before that which would get wet as soon as you accidentally touched the inner layer.

Only a stupidly cheap tent won't have one. Just read the product description.

There's a new one I see cropping up online which basically has inflatable rods, which is interesting!

Peridot air tent, I believe. Going from between £40 on the 'bay to £99 elsewhere. Looks pretty good tbh, I'm very tempted myself!

Remember to get one person larger than you need ! ie 2 man tent for 1 person, sleeping 2 people in a 2 man tent is not comfortable, although i did it, there were no room for anything else.

I have a 2 year old one of them and I love it. Very easy to put up, I can sit up in it, fairly lightweight and pretty sturdy when I've had it in high winds. However, 2 people and stuff was comfortable and cosy (me and ex), 3 people would have to be very friendly indeed!

I'd never dream of taking it to a festival though, too expensive for the risk in my opinion.

I have a khyam highlander. Best tent I've owned. Can be up and ready in less than a minute. Very strong with a good selection of replacement parts available.

Unless it's really windy you don't need the guy ropes.

Can be had for less than £100.

This is OK for 3 people at festy. I'd go for the next model up for anymore peeps.

I got one from the Argos sales last year before download, sounds like your description, think it only cost about £60 and was then half price (so was only about £30). Worked fine, was really warm, the only down side was it was an arse to put up and down myself!

Was certainly comfortable with my double layered airbed though! All of my mates were jealous, not to mention I ahd the foresight to bring lots of coolerboxed, iced up meat etc, so I was sleeping and eating comfortably haha :D

Step bro bought an EPIC one for £70 off ebay. Brand new "end of line" thing. 6 seperate compartments that could sleep 2 each and a massive inside area. You could park a small car in there!

Some awesome recommendations here, thanks guys. Will look at the one on outdoor magic, and interested in the highlander.

Buy a cheap tent for this festival, it's blinding because if it gets buggered, it doesn't matter, loads of people leave tents behind anyway so you can ***** up one for the next festival.

Spend the remaining cash on festival essentials.
Skittles vodka, beer, boxes of cheap wine and nasty strong cider, drugs, smokes. Whatever floats your boat, think of the savings. Bigger tent = less booze carrying capacity too.
