Hi all,

My friend has managed to corrupt his terastation firmware. He needs to recover the data before he sends it for rma. There are two 500gb sata drives in raid 0. Is there any way we can hook it up to a machine and get the data off it?

well you could crack her open and take the drives out but it might void your warranty, the next best option would probably be ringing them up and asking if they can do it without formatting the drives

Well not 100% sure as I've never seen one in the flesh (so to speak). However a quick review of the Buffalo website and a download or 2 of the instructions manuls tells me that its pretty easy to do if you have one of the pro series, if you have the home server it might not be so easy.

You may find this link helpful to indentify your product and download a manual. In the table of content there should be a section for removing drives.

Once you've opened it up it would be a case of getting the drive thats in there and plugging it into your pc, then back up whatever you want to save, although as they are raid 0 Im not sure how you would go from there, at a guess Id say that you would have to raid them on the pc to be able to read across both drives. At this point id like to hand over to someone who knows more about raid than me ...... :D
