Terminator 2

I went to see it at the cinema with the lads when I was about 17 for a mates 15th birthday. He wasn't allowed in as they thought he was under age lol we all went anyway and he waited in town for 3 hours.

Was amazing to see as the only morphing effects that had been shown so far was the Michael Jackson video black and White.

An amazing film that still looks great today.

In my top 3 films of all time easily. There are so many fantastic scenes in that film not just the action sequences but I especially love the bits in Mexico and the relationship that builds between John and the Terminator and the way Sarah comes to terms with the machine being like Johns father.

Beautiful soundtrack, one of the best I can think of.

Getting the Skynet edition for Christmas on Blu-Ray

Fantastic movie. You don't really get better than James Cameron for this sort of thing, everything he does is pretty much amazing.

Everyone else seems to have overlooked this but... Wut?

Are you saying you don't rate Fear & Loathing as a great film? Because now that would be lol-worthy.

I don't rate it as a great film, no. I like a good dose of story with my film - it went on far too long to demonstrate the ironicness of American dream in my book.

I can see its merits, but it was a bit of a 'meh' for me.

At any rate, nowhere near as good as T2.

I was 14 when i saw it at the cinema and it was the first 15 i got into, i thought i was well cool.

To me its the best of the series of films, its my generations terminator film. At the time ground breaking CGI work and big budget explosions and action.

Three and Four where just complete gash IMHO. Pure money makers.

One of the best action films ever. I still remember the first time I saw it, and I have seen it 100 times since then and no it never seems to drag. Just brilliant.

Its a good film but I like the first Terminator better.

This. Even though I've owned this film on VHS, French R2 DVD, R1 ultimate edition (still got & bought over 10 years ago!) & the blu-ray Skynet edition. :o
Still waiting for a region free version of the original to be released on blu-ray.

Watched this a few nights ago before I saw this thread. Definitely one of the finest action films made. The pacing, cinematography, acting, sound track, effects and story all excelled and still do. Obviously the CG isn't on par with modern blockbusters but for 1991 it was utterly beyond anything that had been done before, and still looked brilliant for years afterwards.

Never get bored of it, doesn't drag. Plus there's only one Arnie.

I remember watching it for the first time when I was 10/11 when my bedroom had the SkyTV feed link from the pub below, stayed up late to sneakily watch it.
I was amazed.

You don't get those 80's/early 90s film feel any more.

I would argue it is better than the CGI in a lot of modern films. Simply because it is so overused these days!

It's because it's used for things where we have no frame of reference. We don't know what a mimetic polyalloy looks like, so the T-1000 looks great. By comparison, we know what a human face looks like, so Neo in Matrix Reloaded looks ridiculous.

The only good bit of Terminator 3 was the ending where the bombs are dropping and he is in the mountains hiding.

Terminator 2 is easily one of the best films of all time, and I pretty much echo all the comments above.
The film never seems slow and isn't really out of place now!

Just watched it again thanks to this thread and the memories. This and Robocop (which I watched last week) from that era are 2 of my all time favourite films. Cannot fault either one, endlessly watchable and have a lot more levels than they are given credit for.

I wasn't properly into it at the time.
I remember reading about it in the back of Total! magazine and thought the cgi screenshots of Arnie melting weren't that great, and also I remember the toy figures being in Woolworths alongside Ghostbusters/Turtles/Batman, and being mostly uninterested. Pretty stupid!
However I do remember subsequently watching it late at night with my dad and brother and being utterly engrossed by it. Hell of a film.

Later terminators don't come close, not even Salvation. The machines are way too inefficient at killing in those films.
