Hey,

Well I've not been having much look recently with hardware..

Yesterday, I had two HD failures in an hour.

Then last night, I tried to revive them and took everything out of the case, so that I could try and investigate more. It worked eventually, and I managed to recover some of my files.

Today, I woke up and decided to put it all back into my case. Everything went well, turned it on etc, got some tunes thumping away.

I went to make a Cuppa, then when I came back upstairs.. I found the PSU in flames and a HD on fire.

Then to top it off, my mum threw her hair drier at me..

Anyways, could anyone recommend me a good PSU?

I have a Hiper 530W, but it doesn't support my motherboard.. *sighs*

what do you mean it doesnt support you're motherboard ?

will depend on the rest of you're spec and budget tbh, post you're spec/budget and you will be able to get a better idea.

Well my Motherboard has a 8pin ATX, not 4pin. The Hiper only comes with a 4pin connector.

Budget about £60.

My mobo also has an 8 pin socket, but I use my 580w Hiper fine. 4 Of the pins were capped off on the mobo when I got it. I just plugged the 4 pin plug from the PSU into the other 4 and it worked fine.

Haha,

Well she only threw it at me cos the room was full of smoke and the wallpaper might get smoke damaged!:p

------

Do I need a 4pin cap? Before I can try and boot without 8pins?

with the 8 pins its just like using an old 20pin psu in 24 pin motherboards, just leave 4 pins empty and plug it into the other side, you dont need a cap for it the cap is only to show the correct side.
