Oh how ****ing nice - worke up this morning to this! , I go to Poland on the 18th and I can't take £1200 of camera/laptop.. etc equipment with me as hand luggage atm, going in hold? Oh no! Not allowed drinks on th plane yet we can buy water, wtf

So, either its all over by next week or im not going (you might say whats the point - its not a holiday for me, i've been over there for the last 6 years for 2 weeks each year. Im going to Auchwitz etc for 2 days, having a good look round and taking proper photos. Instead of using 200 photos on film which cost an arm and leg to develop :( )

Something better come out of this, proof people, proof!

Note to all those mentioning stopping people of an appearance from flying - Richard Reid, British born follower of Osama Bin Laden - quite sure he didnt look Indian or have a Muslim sounding name.

Islamic terrorists do not loom Indian, they look middle eastern ;)

Liquids are not allowed on board because the entire (alleged) terror plot revolves around liquid explosives. This has been confirmed by official sources, and thus the Department for Transport have put in place additional security measures which state that passengers are not allowed to take liquids on board. You can buy drinks on board because they're not liquid explosives, obviously.

It's a pain, but it makes sense :)

I quoted you in full , and there was no mention of delays , so please don't add to your statement after.

Directly , it doesn't affect me at the moment as I am not travelling.
But , if I was , then I would respect the measures put in place by people with far more knowledge than you or I and live with it.

If your personal comfort is more important than the potential loss of life to others , then thats your opinion.

Mark

Hi mark,

i'd like to draw your attention to the comment i made in my origional post about my father, and i quote

you can interpret my comments in any way you see fit, it doesn’t make a jot of difference what some 39 year old bloke from Bristol thinks... if MSNBC the news channel in America has the power to bring the fact that laptops and iPod are not and may never be allowed on an airplane again then i certainly can too, if you'd like to be a keyboard warrior then fair enough but just appreciate your instant reaction to flame another member of these forums might not always be accepted.

Obviously im not going to go against the requests of airlines and go, oh sod it im taking my iPod onboard despite new security measures, i also accept pilots have more knowledge of planes than i do, thanks for pointing that one out.

i wouldn’t go so far as to say my personal comfort comes above the potential loss of live, if thats how you interpreted it then i apologies profusely... i was merely stating my disappointment in society today as to refuse me the use of my belongings on a piece of public transportation

Security was stepped up outside your place today

'Twas indeed. The state of alert was set at 'Exceptional' (Why oh why did they get rid of the colour scheme) for most of the morning resulting in car searches, more armed police etc. It was reduced down to 'Heightened' at about midday so hopefully things are back to normal, I couldn't be arsed taking all the guns and crap out of my boot ;)

Just drove home from work through Kingston Upon Thames.

Not exactly central london or anything!

Police & PCSO standing patrol precence the bus station and train station, standing at the entrance of a nearby petrol station etc.

Never seen anything like that before.

Try living near the Canary Wharf towers, business district :(

Sirens are going off left, right and centre. And when I took my daily cycle route through Canary Wharf the police kindly asked me to take another route to avoid any stoppages :(

Society has let down many starving and ill people in Africa and other deprived parts of the world. You are just simply a 19-year old spoilt brat, society owes you nothing.

I just got home from work (finished at 17:00, got home at 18:10!) and as I work quite close to heathrow, the traffic was quite heavy. I couldn't even take the 140 bus home as it starts its journey from heathrow and they were all stuck in traffic for ages.

I ended up taking a taxi home and saw heaps of police cars/vans shooting past towards the airport. It was identical to the scenes I saw during 7/7. Credit to 'Winston!' the taxi driver who scared the balls out of me by rushing 3 red lights because the traffic was getting to him lol

Hopefully the government will take the home bred threat to our country a bit seriously now.

The official said action was being taken in Pakistan, but would not confirm whether any arrests had been made in the country.

A Very dramatic response indeed.

If you don't care what " some 39 year old bloke from Bristol thinks " then why post on a discussion forum , I am allowed my opinion.

As you have responded to 2 people then it shows i am not alone in finding your post a little selfish and immature.

Enjoy your holiday , and i'm 39 next week , actually , so I look forward to my birthday postcard !

Unless they have some form of making Hydrogen and Oxygen on the plane I very very very very very much doubt water will do anything to anyone ;)

If you say what about using to ignite power, well, whats your body 80 or whatever % made up of?

Plus your not allowed newspapers, or books!? even if they are searched through?

Its falling down tbh, i'd be fine flying without the checks.

Still, hey-ho a bunch of ******* ruin our lives once again!

They are not banning water on planes.

They are simply saying that you cannot bring your own liquid onto the plane.

Is this too hard to understand ?

The point is just because a liquid is in a bottle that says water, it doesnt necessarily make it water. It could quite easily be another chemical which could be used to make an explosive.

Whats the alternative? Have everyone boarding the plane take a swig of all the liquids they have? Good luck you might get to your destination sometime next year.

imo people carry way to much hand baggage, about time they cut it down to just the essentials, how many times do you see muppets lugging massive bags in to the passenger areas, just so they can save 15 mins at departure/arrivals.

Im just sick of all this. Give me a ticket out of this rat infested country. Thats if i dont get blown up on the way out.
