Death penalty for Conspiracy thats pretty harsh, afterall they never carried out there attack.bigbadish said:I wish we had lethal injection sometimes, for those who are convicted. Why should they have the privelidge of life when they were willing to take so much of it.

Planning being the operative word. They hadn't actually hurt anyone yet, and whose to say that they all would have gone through with it come the day. To execute people for not much more than evil thoughts is a terrible idea.bigbadish said:They were planning mass murder, which is a terrible crime. I fail to see how wanting to remove these evil people from our planet would make us bad people....
I think actually hurting some one is a worse offfence. They have broken the law, and as this possibly one of the worst crimes to commit, the world would be a much happier and richer place without such people.
BTW do we apply the same standards to non muslim criminals? Do we execute all the everyday murders and rapists? What do you propose? We put them in jail for 20 years (probably out in 10/15).....feed them, cloth them, give them books to read, allow them to study a degree and be released in a better position than when they were imprisoned.....how is that justice, for such a hideous crime?

Justice is imprisoning people for a length comensurate with their actual crime. Its an act by society that also has an effect on that same society. Killing people for this offence would require the death sentance for a hole raft of more serious offence.
Entai said:Yes we should apply the same standards to everyone, so we should consider the death penalty for all the everyday rapists and muderers, child killers, peadophiles etc. It is a proven fact a number of times over that these sort of people can never be rehabilitated into the community, so why waste millions of taxpayers money on imprisonment over and over as each time they are let out they go and commit again.
Yes, justice should be, imprisonment commensurate with the actual crime, but even if we change the law so that life means life with absolutely no chance ever of parole then that is not going to solve the problem.
We are being told constantly the prisons are too full.
So why not help congestion and just give the death penalty to all found guilty of taking another life by pre meditated murder and help cut the congestion in our prisons.

iCraig said:Without this sounding like a pointless insult, would your judgement be the same if your best friend, or a family member was guilty of raping someone?
VIRII said:Could you excuse someone just because they were your friend then?
He only raped her a little bit....
iCraig said:Anger is probably the wrong word. Vengeance?
Presuming they're inprisoned for life that would also protect the public, without resorting to killing people.
iCraig said:Without this sounding like a pointless insult, would your judgement be the same if your best friend, or a family member was guilty of raping someone?
iCraig said:No I couldn't, I would be torn to see a family member/friend sent to prison, but I would also be glad to see them punished. I would have no problem in seeing them inprisoned for a long time. But I don't agree with killing them, whoever it is.
Entai said:If there was substantial incriminating eveidence, DNA proof etc, and they were actually found to be guilty of the crime then yes, sorry, but they would stop being a friend or relative.
May sound harsh but theat is what I believe I would be like, it has never happened so I cannot really say, hopefully I will never have to find out.

iCraig said:You would rather see that person killed for committing the crime, and not just inprisoned? I don't think I could, I would have no objection in seeing them locked up, possibly for life depending on the severity, but to kill them? I wouldn't agree with that.

VIRII said:I have to take my daughter to school now (2nd day at nursery) but if it was your daughter who was raped would you wish the death penalty upon the perpetrator? I'm sure I would and I'd want to inflict the punishment myself.
