Terrorist bomber on Xmas flight

It was a tongue in cheek comment. :p

But seriously, i wonder why that is...if it was from India > America then fair enough but what is in Amsterdam besides drugs and women?

I flew that route to get to florida

Norwich > Amsterdam > detriot > orlando

On delta as well. I'm scared now, I asumed flying from Amsterdam would be the safest way?????

lighting a firecracker on a plane now counts as terrorism? I'm not saying that the guy wasn't an idiot and deserves some jail time for it, but terrorism? there have been people who have got drunk on the drinks that they serve on planes and caused more of a problem than a little firecracker, yet they aren't branded as terrorists, just idiots.

Don't be fooled. Any outbreak of fire on an aircraft is extremely dangerous. Many aircraft have been lost and many people have been killed after what appeared to be a very small and insignificant fire got out of hand.

Had the fire spread in this instance, the consequences could have been disastrous.

was in a database indicating "a significant terrorist connection" although it did not appear on a "no-fly" list

Wow....how much of a terrorist connection does one need to be put on the "no fly list". Jeees!

The explosive used was a mix of powder and liquid, so hardly a firecracker!
Luckily it seems the muppets have once again got the quantity's / combination all wrong otherwise the outcome could have been horrific!

Of course it's terrorism, how else can you describe someone who trys to blow up an airplane full of normal citizens?

Sounds like this could be one of two scenarios.

1. Some nutter literally with firecrackers, US security services trying to spin the story up as a 'terrorist incident' for whatever ends.

2. Bloke actually had a bomb/incendiary which misfired for whatever reason.

From the news reports this morning, it's looking more like 2. It sounds like the people on the plane had a really lucky escape, rather like the incident when Richard Reid tried to blow up another airliner with a shoe bomb. :(

Bit worrying that they're looking at the possibility the guy was a student in London, the USA will be adding the UK to the list of states harboring terrorists at this rate.

It just said on the news he was living in an expensive part of London in a building where the flats are worth £2-3m each, which seems unusual for a Nigerian student.

<Tom Clancy>

Might just have been al-Qaeda sending a complete Muppet out with the intention of seeing if a new fangled explosive is effective, both with getting past scanners and also capable of bringing down an aircraft. If it was, then job done and mass murder ensues, if not then it's back to the drawing board with no great loss.

Probably got the money emailed to him from a distant relative back in Nigeria.

I couldn't care less tbh, the plane didn't go down, so it is safe, so what, some nutter gets injured and locked up, the west is safe for another day.

apparently he did meng at UCL....... i do the same.....

no i dont have any idea who he is, probably a 4th year student or phd
