So, I went to Tesco this morning arriving at 9:45am to do my Sunday morning shop only to find out that it now opens at 11am and isn't open for browsing until 10:30.
Obviously there was a complete lack of info in the store leading up to the change so there were quite a few people standing around just waiting until it opened (presumably they had come by bus and had no other transport to go elsewhere)
Thankfully I came by car and the local Sainsbury's still opens at 10, so I went over there and did my shopping.

Wondering if anyone else's Tesco changed their Sunday opening hours recently, or it's just a one off for my local store?

open 24/7 here

That's not quite true and it does make me angry when they say 24/7. My 24h store closes at 10pm on Sat night and reopens at 10 or something on Sunday then closes at 4pm again till the following morning. Effectively it's only 24h during weekdays.

Tescos have been 10-4 on Sundays for as long as I remember.
I have never heard of one being 11-5.
The 24/7 ones are 24/7, we just have some silly law from a long time ago limiting Sunday trading hours, for absolutely no reason at all.

Yeah, pretty much every other Tesco wherever I've lived has been 10-4 on Sundays.
I like to go on a weekend as soon as it opens as it's normally well stocked and not too busy and Sunday mornings are ideal as I'm normally too hungover at 8am when it opens on Saturdays :p

Ours changed their hours recently too.

I've always just looked at their website to get the hours. It's always been accurate for me. Even updates for holidays etc.

And that's another thing - the website still says 10-4 on Sundays.

Only 6 hours of trading allowed on Sunday so they pick whatever. The one in my town does 10-4, but the one in the city center does 11-5, it's probably beneficial to stay open later in a busy center that be open early.

I guess that's down in England? I've never understood why they bother with that rule.

Up here in Scotland my nearby Tesco Extra is 24/7... including Sundays!

You get proper 24/7 in Scotland?

Annoying, why do we still have this stupid rule in England. Have attendances figures for church been affected in anyway? A lot of people only get the weekend to do their shopping.

I think Tesco Extra is slightly different from normal Tesco, I have a Tesco Extra here in London which is open till 23:00 on a Sunday.

It was even worse when I lived in Germany, the supermarkets had to close at something like 10am on Sunday (Bavaria - very catholic place) so opening hours would be 7-10. Not too good when most Sunday mornings were spent hungover. It relaxed a bit by the time I left and they opened later.

Local tesco shuts for a few hours on a sunday, but they never used too.

ASDA is open all the time everyday of the week, the McD's inside close though.
