Tesco Petrol prices in you area pls help

Oh God, 3p more?! I really feel for you.

Indeed - I've never really understood why people are hyper sensitive to fuel price variations when lots of other things we buy vary far far more.

Price of a pint of beer can vary a whole pound from one pub to another, books vary many pounds from one shop to another... and as for computer hardware, holidays, flights... Flights can have huge variations!

But the discussion always seems to come back to the few pennies on fuel. It's totally irrational. Fuel pricing is incredibly consistent between retailers - one of the most consistently priced products out there after stamps!

So you're telling us that before, the only place you could get petrol/diesel locally was the Total garage, which you never used because they're overpriced.

Now, you have the option of going to Total or Tesco, but they're both overpriced.

Sounds a lot to me like nothing has changed and that you should just continue buying diesel wherever you used to. I'm sure with 2000 miles/month whoever you buy from loves you anyway.

Nothing has changed that my point.

But we now have a massive **** off tesco bleeding the community dry:mad:

Why would tesco charge less than they need to?

why would they charge more if they don't need to?

I know Greed.

They have lied and cheated the community in building the store. I intend to fight it.

I'm loving this multiquote button now that I now how it is used, why don't you?
What point dont you get?

Surely they're only bleeding the community dry if... people let them? People aren't that stupid. If Tesco is more expensive then they'll go elsewhere. Clearly it isn't more expensive, since as you say, everyone is shopping there (I'm assuming this is why your local Coop is doomed to fail now) and Tesco are making lots of money :p

To be fair, one of the only questions you asked was the prices of Tesco fuel in our local area. A half dozen posters have given you information on fuel prices everywhere...

... and you didn't even say thank you :(

Still haven't mastered that multi-quote button have you?

I think easyrider doesn't understand capitalism. People don't have to work for more than £12k, but they do.

And you want them to cut their prices and put pressure on established local businesses? Have you even considered they might not be undercutting the local PFS so as to not "bleed the community dry"? Unlikely, but more believable than the 8 pages of condratictory nonsense here.

This is exactly why companies like Tesco can never win.

Sorry about that...I have read SOME of the thread (seeing that I was posting this to page 4 but when i copied the link and saved the post the thread had jumped up by 2 pages)

Tbh I agree with what you were saying about the difference in the cost of fuel between different providers is crazy...

However I don't think you writing a letter of complaint to Tesco is going to make any difference seeing that they have the silly promotions where if you buy 2 packs of 9 Tesco toilet rolls you get 5p off per litre of fuel

.

But why would they not care about the co-op?

You claim that the problem lies in the planning application for Tesco. You claim that Tesco claimed it would be of benefit to the community.
Explain, how the addition of another petrol station and associated shop which likely employs people from the local community, exactly how that isn't of benefit?
