Tesco Petrol prices in you area pls help

2000 miles is a lot if your commute is on your bike. That's over 60 miles a day.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting you but I am interested to know where you're driving to every month :p

I don't want to get involved here but 3p is quite a substantial difference.

I disagree. A difference of 3p per litre means that if you brim a, say, 60 litre tank, you'll see a max difference of £1.80 per fillup.

If you get about 500 miles out of this tank and you do 2000 miles a month that means you see a max difference of £7 ish over a whole month.

Assuming you're always filling up at the more expensive places, which you're probably not going to do all the time, this is the most you'll be losing out on. Since in reality you'll just fill up wherever you need to the actual amount you'll be losing out on is more likely to be closer to 3 or 4 quid.

I personally do about 4000 miles a month and I couldn't care less about a maximum saving of £15 over the whole month. I just drive my car until I have around 20-30 miles left in the tank and fill up wherever is closest. I'm not going to put any effort in to saving less than 2 quid.

With that said, I do understand the point about it being the principle of the matter rather than anything else :)

Since I fill up wherever is closest, I'll often end up buying at the cheap price, often at the more expensive price. My overall savings even on 4000 miles a month would probably be closer to a fiver if I bothered to search around. Not worth it.

I'm really cheesed off at how expensive petrol is, and I don't even drive.

Got a license but can't afford a car because insurance is so expensive.

Got a question, how expensive do you think petrol will be in 4 years time?
I really want to be able to come out of uni and drive a petrol car but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen :(

lol funniest thread ever

I am certain that anyone one here who works in retail will recognise the 'easyriders' of the world

As for your your crusade this was answered in post 14 which worryingly you don't seem to understand

On a side note I find that Mars bars differ in prices, can you write to the CEO and demand a years worth of free chocolate for me :D

Get a bike or car now and insure it. Even if you don't ride or drive it, you will build up no claims and insurance will drop for you dramatically when you actually want to drive.

A moped or something is ideal, insurance would be £300 a year at the most and your no claims would be transferable to a car with quite a few insurance companies.

To be fair, everyone jumping on this "wow your making this fuss for 3p" bandwagon is the same reason why prices just keep on rising. To be frank, people are mugs to just accept the price increase and go on about their lives. If everyone did kick up a stink,(and actually do something rather than moaning about it for a few hours and forgetting) and have easy's attitude to complaining to companies we all wouldn't be mugged off.

Let us know how it goes Easy, more people need your approach.

Why do you care then? There's too many cars on the road anyway, don't you agree? By the time I come out of uni I will probably get a motorbike instead of a car (cheap insurance and running costs), and hopefully we can come up with hydrogen powered vehicles rather than fossil fuels.

Nope, I'm fairly sure there's not a lot we can do about the price of fuel or what a business needs to do in order to profit.

Didn't know you could transfer no claims from bike to car.

So I could get a really cruddy £50 bike and get insured on it for a year or two and never go on it, then I can transfer it?

Well I love cars.

I can talk to someone about cars for hours. Yes it is very sad but I enjoy discussing and learning about how different gearboxes and engines work.

I dunno about a £50 bike but yeah, essentially.

Sometimes it's not a one for one swap when you transfer though. Say you had 4 years no claims on a moped, some car companies would only take a percentage of the 4 years you have so they might give you 2 years for the car instead of 4. I don't think it's as extreme as halving your no claims but you get the gist.

A few insurance companies will do a one for one swap but I can't remember who at the moment.

But at the end of the day it is a luxury, so as long as there is a demand for fuel, they can charge as much as they want and get away with it. It is different for insurance cost as this is a legal requirement, and the insurance companies milk the system to get as much money as they possibly can.

Give it a break, and spare me the lecture. What a business needs to to in order to profit?

I'm sure it comes under continuing to rip people off to see how far people can be pushed, and as soon as it becomes mainstream news they start to freeze the prices or offer 10p off every litre if you spend £50 or more... well its just risen 15p in the past 2 weeks so you aint getting no value.

Yeh.... thanks for the lecture. A prime example of the mentality of the majority of people out there.
