Hi there,

Recently I have been drinking this, to maintain some energy at night time, when im doing revision / coursework, I find I work best at night, and I mean past 11pm.

I drink one bottle each time i go on a revision 'fest'. - Breaks in between etc, so I am not over doing myself. - GET PLENTY of sleep at the weekends :p trust me!

HOWEVER:

Are there any effects to drinking this, say twice a week? (2litres a week)...maybe 3 when it comes to peak revision?

I'm going to go get some 1 litre bottles now :p...be back in a moment! (TESCO is so close) :p

Energy drinks may cause seizures in those who suffer from certain forms of epilepsy due to the "crash" following the energy high that occurs after consumption. France has banned the popular energy drink Red Bull after the untimely death of eighteen-year-old athlete Ross Cooney, who died after he played a basketball game shortly after consuming four cans of the drink. The French Scientific Committee concluded that Red Bull has excessive amounts of caffeine. Denmark has also banned that particular drink. Britain also investigated the drink, but only issued a warning against its use by pregnant women.

In the United States, some states are cracking down on energy drink makers that have potentially hazardous ingredients, such as alcohol included in the mix.

Is this the cheapo version of Red Bull? About the only thing that might be of concern is the levels of caffeine - a 250ml can of Red Bull contains the same amount as a strong cup of coffee. Everything else you read is a load of urban myths. So as long as you drink in moderation and don't became addicted to it I wouldn't worry.

LMAO! Looks at your sig, ;)

The amount I drink, I think is 'acceptable', just wanted to know if the sugar content was astonishingly high etc.

What is it with kids these days? Why do you need anything to help you revise, we never used anything to aid us in staying awake/alert and we managed perfectly fine.

Boost or Red Bull or Kick are all quite nice drinks but their high amounts of caffeine and taurine can cause you to have a drowsy bad feeling period after excessive consumption. I happen to have just bought 2 bottles of Boost whilst this thread appeared and am now mixing them with some Russian Standard.

Drink 4 bottles or so of Red Square if you want some to help you stay awake. :)

note:- revision ability may be severly reduced

I personally believe all artificial stimulants are bad for you (whether scientifically proven or not) in concentrated and large doses. However the occasional boost is probably acceptable if required.

Personally I have lots of energy without needing anything, but that's maybe because I'm a health freak and have a good diet and seldom drink (I've had 10 units in the past 2 months). Naturally occurring stimulants such as caffeine I'm less bothered about again as long as it's not in copious quantities - personally going for a run/walk/doing some exercise, then having a shower a bit to eat and a cup of coffee would set me up better than piling junk into my body.

If you've got a good diet you shouldn't need any vitamin supplements. Supplements are there to cover you for any deficit either through illness, allergies to certain foods and to help give your immune system a boost when you're ill.

Can't people stay up for all nighters without any help these days?!

I can stay up working all night with a couple of slices of toast and a cup of tea, I was just wondering about taking vitamin supplements to help my diet as sometimes I don't eat as regularly or balanced as I would like, not that I eat unhealthily though. I know your post about people staying up all night wasn't directed at me specifically.

Well then, just come back, no I haven't ever brought this much before (only 1/2 bottles) -CONSIDER it as my new years tipple :p

Tbh, only brought so much to get an e-penis for kick lovers :p (This is like 2-3weeks worth)

£3.15 for 7 bottles :o

If I had that much it'd be gone in a couple of days not 2-3 weeks !! Although I may die after... I love the taste.

Until a week ago I drank a 6 lucozade pack a week, and had the same thoughts, so I've switched to Oasis :D

I can beat that deal! I bought 48 cans of Red Bull from Asda last week for the grand total of £13.12 (4 x 12 packs at £3.28 each). An obscene amount I agree, but when you consider a can of the stuff is typically £1+ and this worked out to be about 27p a can... jobs a good'un! :)

And you didn't tell us for what reason...?

See. This is why I blame these drinks. I have 1 bottle of Boost at college, it's ok. Second bottle, that's me on a high for about half an hour. Third bottle and I've over done it. Feel drowsy/tired.

However, it's an awesome feeling.

I'd concentrate on putting a bit more effort into your diet before relying on supplements though. :) Unless you really can't eat regularly, or sort your diet out then yes I guess taking some supplements might be beneficial, I'd still talk to an expert about it first. All my research is just from personal research and from spending time in the gym and chatting to other health freaks! :p

during my coursework weeks, me and a housemate would regularly drink 2 of the 1L bottles a day. We'd get so much work done it was unbelievable. Didn't really feel any side effects over a week - 10 days that the sessions lasted! :D
