Tesco's 'Kick' energy drink...Side effects?

I drunk 2 of those a day for 5 days straight. I felt incredibly exhausted and drained for the following few days, and it seemed to give me a case of the runs, not pleasent!

during my coursework weeks, me and a housemate would regularly drink 2 of the 1L bottles a day. We'd get so much work done it was unbelievable. Didn't really feel any side effects over a week - 10 days that the sessions lasted! :D

Wicked, well exam is on the 22 or the 23rd of January, so crunch time hasn't quite come;)

he played a basketball game shortly after consuming four cans of the drink.

what a simpleton...

caffene= a diuretic= become dehydrated

This is why it amazes me that lucozade now do a drink for sports which has caffene in it.

Are there any effects to drinking this, say twice a week? (2litres a week)...maybe 3 when it comes to peak revision?

I have regularly done 2 litres a day, over the period of a week before.

Worst you'll get is a headache IME.

I've had 4 litres in a night before, at which point I decided I had a bit too much energy and stopped :p

I drink a 200ml bottle every weekday with my breakfast at around 10am (either that or Sainsbury's Blue Bolt).

Can't say I notice any side effects.

slightly off thread my ex was having my son for the day recently and I had requested that he didn't give him cola as it makes him hyper, well he gave him this instead, my son was actually bouncing about the room, talking complete gibberish and it took me HOURS to get him settled:eek:( he's only 7years old)

LOLz u gave a 7 year old caffine !!! :D

hehe next time stretch it to "no caffeine".

im the same as the OP. 3 or 4 of the larger bottles a week as tesco's is right next to college. sometimes 2 a day and then i get a bit funny. i dont think its good for the liver to filter out all the stuff but dont have any certain ideas or stats.

If I had that much it'd be gone in a couple of days not 2-3 weeks !! Although I may die after... I love the taste.

Hard to tell if they are the big ones or the small ones?

I drink Kick on Sunday mornings - I work 10 to 6 and if I'm out Friday night and busy on Saturday I'm normally shattered...

Not noticed any side effects, apart from the fact that it makes my teeth very sensitive after the first litre... :(

In the first few weeks of December it was buy 1 litre, get 1 litre free for 99p!

I believe the energy is more important than the caffiene. I'd suggest dextro-energy tablets to help concentration (try the chemist).

Staying up all night is easy when your young, drinking lots of caffiene makes it much harder though - it drains you so much after the initial high.

The only use I have for red bull is motorway driving when tired, always keep a couple of cans in the glove box just incase I start drifting lanes :)

Oh and caffeinated drinks aren't dehydrating, there's a diuretic effect for sure but the amount of liquid in the drink is more than what goes out.

I worked 12 hour shifts, mostly nights, for 18 months. I started trying energy drinks and coffee but nothing kept me in better shape than eating fruit and drinking water.

I stayed up all night a while back trying to do work, I ultimately failed in that quest and only managed to spam the forums and watch Lawrence of Arabia.

Brilliant film!

I have a bottle of lucozade every morning before school. But that's nothing major...

I don't see the point in energy drinks, just eat well and you'll have a longer lasting supply of energy.

+ drink plenty of water.

just have pro plus instead works better imo but dont go mad with it remember having a whole sheet in one go thinkin it would just keep me nice and wide awake for the night (my 18th) that is 12 pills may be wrong and that was about a year ago never felt so sick in my life.....

NASA did an interesting study in the 50s where they gave spiders a number stimulants and then studied the web they produced. The spider on caffeine showed the most change with it being unable to produce the most basic web. Food for thought, but by no means conclusive.

But you are drinking fluid with it to compensate and caffeine has been shown to increase performance in some sports:

Caffeine has multiple effects on the body and studies have demonstrated improvements in athletic performance in endurance cycling (Pasman et al, 1995), 2000m rowing (Bruce et al, 2000) and in upper body strength (Beck et al, 2006), compared to controls.
