Test for both cores?

Is there a programme that could tell me if both of the cores on my e6300 are present and both working properly?

Stress Prime 2004

Put it in 2 different folders then run both at the same time with one set to Core 0 and the other one set to Core 1.

If one of the cores is not working properly the test will usually fail within seconds or minutes.

If both run for hours without error then your system is perfectly stable.

Thats the old way :)
Get this Johnny Lee's Orthos http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/beta2.htm
which is Prime 2004 but with a better interface & dual core instance built in.

You've got two threads going asking about the same problem. Best to stick to just one thread, bit like your core. :p :D

ouch, orthos tests both auto, it should come up like this screenie

if tht doesnt look like your screen then check the other thread that is similar to this about acpi multiprocesor pc

(lol,, yes my cpu does get very hot LAWL)

problem

look at your other post where i spook about acpi multiprocesor pc, its probabl not your cpu, when did you install windows, before geting the cpu, or at the same time as installing the cpu, or after

I don't think it is the CPU, the 945 Wasn't performing properly either that I had before (just for two days, didn't do these tests)

I have just used the same hard drive that I had in my old setup (xp2600) onto this new rig, with no format or anything like that.

Why, could that be the problem?

ok firstly, call me frosty, not nipple you might get in trouble
sencondly go to your other post, and check the device manager, it must say acpi multi procesor pc
thridly check my post above i edited it
fourthly download mozilla firefox, it will own ie's ass anyday

yes, thats probably your problem, i believe there was somesort of patch made, i dont know much about this, wait till the morning im sure someone will know, however, if that doesnt work, you will need to reinstall windows

edit

more of my thinking has concluded that to get the best performance out of a whole new system is to have a whole new install of windows with it. Windows will ajust itself to the system to give best performance

Cheers Nipple ( ;) :D ) You've been really helpful. I think that I'll buy a new SATA HDD tonight, I need one anyway as I'm on IDE. I'll then go for a fresh window's install and see what happens.

Unless someone tells me this won't make a difference, as this will save me a lot of time and a headache!! :D

just dont forget to save all your valued files music, pictures, videos, etc

unless you really need/want a sata hdd it is not nescesary, your cpu problem is not caused by ide, dont feel presured into buying, but if you do buy, then get it from ocuk :D and at the same time the samsung sata dvd-rw drive

The difference in minor in normal windows application, you might get a few seconds faster loading time in games and higher benchmark scores and that's about it, because the main limitation for HDD is the spindle speed.

If you already have a decent ATA100 / 133 HDD then i'd say stick with it. But if you are getting new ones anyway then definetely go SATA2.
