Well, my mums friends laptop just died, she talked me through what was happening and I came to conclusion it wasn't POSTing, so this can't be a CPU, fried motherboard or graphics card error surely (otherwise it wouldn't even turn on) so it must be something like RAM or Hard Drive, I told her to bring it round and I'll have a look (I'm not joking its a Dell Inspiron 2000, well out of warranty so theres no issues there, now I'm just wondering, how could I test the Hard Drive, I can try the one stick or the other for RAM, but I'd want to make sure its not the hard drive first, I've got a PSU but not enough Sata cables to plug it up to a computer, and if theres drivers for the laptop, surely it wouldn't work unless I booted it into safe mode so I've just answered my own question. But yeah, is there any other way of checking?
