It arrives tomorrow but I don't want to instal it until the release of Win7. I would like to test it though. If I connect it up and can transfer\delete a few files is it safe to assume its ok, or are there other tests I should carry out?

It's no different to any other HD in that respect - just add it to a spare port and make sure it's not the primary disk in the boot priority and you'll be able to use it as a slave.

could do what a lot of people have done and download the proper copy of windows 7 that you've preorded and install that, that way you've got 30 days to register which by then you'll have the key for your preorded one.

Once you're done testing and benching, theres a nice tool called secure erase, which completely wipes the drive and restores performance. If you google for secure erase intel x25-m you should find some guides.

Thanks for all the answers. The SSD is on the van and will be here soon. What I think I'll do is install build 7100 then practice setting programs on C:, media\data\ect on D: and a general mess about. Then secure erase and wait for the official release of Win7.

Hi all to use it as a slave What "Allocation Unit Size" should i specify?
