I have tomorrow at work to work out if a pc we have is having ram issues.

Basically at idle the machine statys on, but whe you try to use it after a while it will reboot.

It could be psu or ram.

Boss, is not convienced its the psu, so I need to test the ram.

There are 8 1Gb sticks. How the  am I going to test the sticks in a day?

memtest?

Memtest.

Test pairs at first and then move on to singles with any of the pairs that fail (if they fail).

However, if they all pass it may be DIMM a socket (so more testing will be needed), or it could be something else entirely causing the problem...

The first pass will usually only last 20 minutes, so you can test all the sticks easily, if you have all day.

Once you identify the failures, test them in different slots (to rule out the mobo), and you should narrow it down to 1 or 2 sticks.. then leave them test for longer and they should throw up enough errors to convince you they are b0rked.

I went back and tested all the remaining good sticks overnight, just for peace of mind, but that may not be an option.
