Does anyone know how much it would cost to send a text from an orange UK phone to an American phone, the network is Verizon btw. Also I'm on monthly tariff with free messages and would like to know if they would be able to use my allowance?

15 or 20p I think, definitely doesn't use the allowance.

However, if you want to phone, 18185.co.uk has an 0208 number covered by free landline calls add-on and charges 1p a minute to call US mobiles, payment by direct debit monthly.

I think that's true but I'm not going there, so shouldn't cost anything to receive them.

Not going to cost you to receive a reply, but the person you're sending a text to in America will have to pay to receive a text as well as you paying the 19p no matter where its sent from.

No they don't.

Why would a person have to pay to receive a text in their own country on their own network?

wow, thats the first i've ever heard of this, lucky theres nothing like that over here!

They get other benefits that we do not, or that we pay significantly more for though, it's swings and roundabouts really, just more reflective of usage tendancies than anything else.
