Text editor for CMS

I am looking for a text editor to include in a CMS I am creating, as this is my first attempt at a custom made CMS I've not found what I am looking for as of yet from the many options I've seen, I'd like it to output some clean html to be stored in the database.

A lot of the editors I've seen so far offer far too much customisation for what I am looking for!

Also, it doesn't need to be WYSIWYG - as showing tags like in this editor on these forums, but either way will probably be fine.

I'd like to be able to limit the allowed options to things like:
- paragraph type (h2, h3, p etc)
- bold/italic
- font colour
- link
- picture
- bulleted/numbered lists

So of course my question is - do you have any recommendations?

All of the major WYSIWYG editors these days can be configured to do what you need. Have a google for TinyMCE and CKEditor.

While they do have a plethora (almost too many) functions, a lot of them can be cut out with simple configuration.

Yep, tinyMCE is good and easy to integrate. I have also used it to make a small cms.

Thanks, I've had a quick look at those and they look impressive, was a bit overwhelmed by the number that I found originally and wasn't seeing the customisation I wanted.
