tf2 freezing lag ?

anyone getting some kind of freezing lag. u freeze for a second and then u come back it repeats every 30 seconds ? it was fine before first time it happens to me .could it be of steam friends being down ? :confused:

I get the 'freeze' lag too and only on TF2, unlike other games where it jst gets 'laggy'. With TF2 the picture actually freezes for a few seconds.

It started happening for me since I downgraded from 6gb to 4gb of ram. Even though my 4gb aren't filled completely when playing tf2. It's clearly the game being stupid and not loading enough into the ram as my hdd light is always on when it happens and you can hear heavy crunching from my hdd ( which stops after it goes on again)... It goes away usually after the first 5 mins though. Happens 2 or 3 times at start of most games for me. Other source games like l4d are absolutely fine.

i noticed that its not server problem as i created the server. and the freezing lag still persist there to. so its something in my end, but strangely i never had such an issue.

deleted the game downloading again hopefully it works then

I get this problem ever since the multicore update. It doesn't always happen but when it does, it's really really annoying

Ahh, not just me then. Screen and sound stop for a moment, then i "catch up" to the rest of the game. Usually dead. (my excuse and i'm sticking to it!)

Starting having this problem also. Although it hit and miss, sometimes its really bad and i have to come off the server, other times i play i dont get it at all.

Not sure if its connection related though, my ping is good but i could be getting packet loss.

I get something like this too.
Every 20 mins or so the game will freeze and I get the "disconnecting in 29, 28, 27...." in the top right. When this reaches about 25 it will go away and I'll be left with all players frozen where they were before the lag, then about 20 seconds later the game will unfreeze (usually back at spawn after being lag killed).

Happened before the multicore update too, ever since the scout update.

Yes, I've just started getting it today.

It sucks

It made me have a look at 'net_graph 3' for the first time in ages and I was getting little jumps to 10 choke now and again and very rarely big jumps to 40 or so. Although the big jumps seemed to be when I was dead and spectating and the little jumps to 10 choke didn't really correspond with the 1 second freezes I was getting.

well i fixed it uninstalled tf2 and removed left overs from Steam/SteamApps/username/tf2

then installed the game and runs normal again

i found running msn in the background cause problems with value games for me, like css left for dead and tf2.

Also the tf2 freeze thign for me becuase multicore rendering was on i turned it off and it went away.
