TF2 - How to record and report a cheater?

I've come across about 2 or 3 blatant hackers before..

But i have no idea how to..

-Record ingame demos
-find steam / vac id's

I used to know in CS, but have long forgotten

Basic starters?

Record <filename>

as for reporting does steambans handle TF2?

Type 'status' in console to get steam IDs

Type 'record filename' in console to record a demo, then just type 'stop' when you're done. Of course replace 'filename' with the actual name you want to call the demo

You can find the demo files you record in Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > username > teamfortress2 > tf

But Devil is right, VAC normally gets them and if you play on servers with regular admins then there's no problem. I've got about 300+ hrs on TF2 and only come across 2 hackers!

You can't report them to STEAM.

Steam bans would work but don't you have to be signed up and approved though?

There are loads of procedures IIRC. There used to be anyway.

Open your console and type "disconnect" then open your server browser and choose a different server.

Job done.

was on one of the badwater only servers, there was a guy called 'unconnected', when he killed you, no name came up, he would aim at the floor with sniper, then it would snap to heatshot instantly

everyone left the server after about 5 mins..

no admins were about

Yes the server which the demo is recorded on must have Steambans plugin installed so you can run an sb_status command during the demo and they can use that to ban them from all servers running the plugin.

Haha I remember that, I made a post which was deliberately meant to be sarcastic - stating that you didn't have the skills and were blaming it on cheaters - however no-one really argued against it, some even agreed!

Gotta admit, that in all honesty it just isn't a problem, try clan servers as they'll usually have someone with mod abbilites who will be able to tell cheaters a mile off a ban them.
