TF2: Pyro next to get achievements

So soon as well as being able to save your games online there'll be some shiney new content for Team Fortress too.

Any guesses on what the new weapons will be? Maybe a lighter as a new melee weapon so you can set people on fire when you touch them, maybe some kind of napalm grenede like they had in the old days, or maybe even a fire extinguisher to put people out but not heal them? Answers on a postcard.....

One thing though, a load of people running around as pyros will certainly be more annoying than too many medics!

It makes sense to a degree that pyros are next in line, they're a good counter to medics. Personally it's the spy and engineer achievements that I'm really looking forwards to.

Not even a vague clue on weapons, but I liked the medic offerings, so I'm hopeful!
 
Anyone else of the opinion that these unlocks just hurt the game? When the medic acheivements came out everyone was running around with medics and people were more focused on pratting around to get these bloody acheivements than actually playing the game. Can remember being in a 12 man team with about 8 medics and half of those were doing nothing but standing in spawn healing each other. :rolleyes:


This is gonna be the same thing, most people will just use pyro class and screw actually trying to play the game they'll just prance around trying to get these acheivements. I dunno why valve just dont unlock the weapons and let people customise their characters instead of having this circus of people more interested in acheivements than actually playing properly.
 
I'll be honest - I went on a medic farming map and farmed the first two weapons in about an hour, then went back to playing the game normally to get the rest of the fun achievements. Like you said, tying the unlocks to the achievements was a bad moved. The "original" set of achievements I really enjoyed going after in the game over time, but making it a prerequisite for additional content is just begging for them to be farmed.
 
I stopped playing TF2 for a week after the medic achievements came out - as Gerard says the game was ruined while people tried to get achievements. Will probably be the same with the pyro but not quite as bad, as much as i love the medic he's not a very good attacking character so a team full of medics makes little or no progress. Pyros on the other hand........
 
Man, you guys are so dull. I found loads of medics running around hilarious - I for one am really looking forward to the Pyromania that is going to ensue. And besides the game is only "ruined" for a few days, maximum.

Thats what I was thinking. Sure, the first few days might be complete mayhem, but after a week or two, everything will back back to usual, like it has been for the medics.

Majorly ruined for only a few days, yes, but minor brakeage has stayed in that people still play for achivements and not map goals, and i dont think the medic weapons are balanced (ubersaw > bonesaw, medigun > kritzkreg).
 
I think any achievements for the pyro are more likely to get them up in the thick of things burning people rather than hiding at the back, so it wont be quite as bad as the medic epidemic.

there will never be grandes introduced into TF2 afaik, as it ruined the game balance which is a shame as it realy added to tfc especically to the scout class.

Pyro was good for a laugh.. what with its range being a joke though it was hard to be any more than a bit of fun though

I gave up before the updates, i would hope this has since changed... but dont think ill be comin back to the game despite liking both the medic and the pyro

Yeah, I know originally it was meant to be the strongest class but I think it is possibly the weakest now (apart from heavy if he doesn't have a medic). Even medics with the new medigun beat pyros by shooting and running away.
