TF2 Uber Update

There's actually 20 new weapons so far, with the last 3 classes yet to be revealed. I'm guessing the medic will be getting special attention as the 'meet the' short is coming out tomorrow

I just idle for hats on this game now, hopefully this will make me actually play again.

You idle for hats and don't play? Why would you bother? If you don't like the game as is I very much doubt the update is going it change that.

Looking forward to this its a fps that's still on my most played list

Yeah agreed, I'm quite looking forward to it, i just dont understand the excitement for "Meet the" shorts... They're funny but not to die for.

Still think the Demoman is overpowered, but these new items will be quite fun. :D Don't think the Liberty Launcher will replace my Direct Hit, but it might be a better choice than the stock launcher.

The demoman seems like a fantastic close quarter combat guy now. The fanatics must be going mental over all the updates.

The demo updates have been all buff with no drawback (bar equipping shoes instead of a weapon). The Heavy's equipment is really uninspired, something to go on the fists, another shotgun and oh look, another bloody minigun.

Bleh.

Not interested. The game is naff now since all the hats, customisations and weapon differences.

TF2 is miles away from it's core now.

I couldn't agree more. I used to play this loads, but there are just so many weapons and hats and whatever else you can collect now that it has just got silly. What happened to people just enjoying the game for the fun of the core gameplay instead of this Pokémon gotta catch em all esque game that it's now become. :(

Yes but everyone else can still and thus it's something you have to take in to account in combat. Sure I bet you can find vanilla servers, but it's just the way Valve have taken the game I don't like. I'm of the opinion that less is more in this case and the addition of all these extra items and weapons don't really bring anything to the table and just dilute what was (and still is but less so) a fantastic game. Giving the players options for weapons etc is fine by me, but when there are just so many out there it has just gotten silly.

You don't have to use the new weapons or hats...............

Exactly but the weapons do make it so you can choose how to play the game differently within an individual class and each have different advantages in different situations.

I used to play it all the time but I got bored of it when they started changing it around too much. Now I haven't played it in years.. :(

Even though you can still use the same weapons and not wear a hat - you got bored of it not staying the same. Right....

Yup I don't get it at all. I've played it since release like loads of folk and still play it. I play soldier and scout most. Both with there default weapons. I don't even know how the crafting or trading even works. I like the hats, makes folk look different. I still play the game as it was when it was released. So what if other folks use different weapons. None of them really change the game that much.

I think the argument against the myriad updates is that there is no 'optimal' loadout for a class and players have to match up a set that suits their play style.

IMO this is not a bad thing, however for new / inexperienced players, the default loadouts put them at a real disadvantage with certain classes (hello needlegun).

One thing that can be a disincentive to new players is the sheer amount of available weapons creating too much variety of gameplay styles. New players will literally have to study how the various weapons affect gameplay for themselves and what to expect from their opponents or otherwise just find themselves staring at the wall in spawn more often than having fun.
