TF2 Updates - Heavy Pack is next

Cloak also takes a while for you to become completely invisible too, so ideally you need to be behind a corner and start cloaking for 2-3 seconds before running out into the open.

Does anyone think that spy is slightly spoiled by the people who just shoot anyone on their own team just to check.. You cloak get al the way to their end disguise as one of the run to "help" cap the point, but look Pyro boy has flamed you just to ****ing check...

I've found it good to practice Spy on 2fort.. it's a fairly decent way to get used to how spies work, without having to look inconspicuous whilst pushing the cart or capping control points.. you just get used to relying on the cloak and pistol, nowadays I hardly even bother to disguise :)

Spy checking was common in TFC too. Just one of those things to defend yourself / your team.

pffft pyros are easy :P

Just backpedal with the pistol, and if they get too close just cloak and run the other way ;)

Disguise is more useful against sentries, it doesn't work against most players. If you are running around the enemy base with no cloak, at least try and face in the right direction e.g. run backwards into their base (possible calling for a medic) to look less like a disguised enemy. Also, don't bump into any enemy players as they will know you are an enemy - team-mates can pass by each other easily, whereas enemies cannot, regardless of disguise or cloak.

You can save your cloak by disguising as a different member of your own team e.g. Pyro, so that when they see you, they assume you are just another enemy Pyro about to start setting everyone on fire and may even avoid you. Then you can use your cloak to get deeper behind them and change to an enemy disguise to protect you from sentries.

I think the Spy is the hardest class to play now, but it can be thrilling.

I think I can count on one hand the number of times that colliding with someone hasn't resulted in them realising instantly that you're a Spy. Likewise playing against a halfway competent team will mean that they spycheck everyone who is in the defensive area.

Spy is my 2nd most played class but whilst I've managed to raise my game up a bit to compensate it seems to be one of those classes you can only play for a certain period of time before it becomes too neutered. Against overly paranoid/skilled teams I tend to only use Spy to get far enough behind the enemy so I can take out their teleporter entrances - in situations like that it seems to be the only thing it's good for (as ubered Demos, Pyros, etc deal with sentries etc a lot easier).

That said as remarked above it can be thrilling when you pull off a string of backstabs without being detected. Spy is the thinking mans class :)

Im not a spy man, but it can be a very rewarding class to play, expecially when taking out engis and sentry placements as your team push the cart etc.

But normally i hate spies and snipers. Spend my whole time as a pyro checking everyone by just flaming the hell out of the map.

The best combination for a sentry placement is the sentry just peaking out, engi just around the corner with a dispenser behind him, then a heavy standing close to the dispenser (a little further back) and spraying constantly to aid sentry at long range and wach out for those pesky spies. :D:D:D

Still lots of pyro spamming, I haven't even played enough to get the flare gun yet, still a good 3-4 on each team :/

Normally stick as a medic and heal everyone as much as poss, then rush with mad pyros. Keeps me at the top of the leaderboard, but most importantly helps the team to win the rounds !

I play Pyro, i tend to be either Pyro, Engineer or Soldier. More recently ive been playing Pyro because ive had lots of success with it. The flame thrower upgrade is nice, but the missing compression blast does become a problem sometimes. XD Has anyone noticed a strange bug where sometimes "flames" seem to go through walls, seems to affect buildings made by engineers mostly. You can stand "under" the floor they are on and destroy them, found out by accident the otherday then had a load of people calling "cheating" and "exploit abuse".

I think Heavys could do with an ammo upgrade, they should double it (as an unlockable). Maybe a "sprint" would be good too, make him able to 'holster' his weapon and move quicker, with the drawback being he needs to re-equip it so its slow to start shooting. Help get him to areas he needs to be. Spys need a quicker cloak/de-cloak...

I look forward to the engineer pack though, i hope they give him some cool upgrades for the sentry (shields? XD). Or a link, between other nearby sentry guns so they lock on to the same target (even if it would be slightly out of range of the other normally).

As a pyro, I tend to spray my team mates with flame quickly to check for spys. Its the best class for doing it IMO, if there is a spy there they burst into flames and everyone can shoot them. Assuming they dont burn to death before then XD

Heavies could do with a faster spin up chain gun, but without quite the same punch (at the moment you either have to crawl along with the gun spinning, or wait about a second before you can fire).

I think the Spies would benefit if FF was On, that way the players on the other team wouldn't shoot everybody. But then Spies might be a bit overpowered, i dunno...

In beta stages ff was accidentally enabled and the game was just broken, people realised killing team mates gave you points so you can imagine what was going on.

According to valve ff was never meant to be an option in tf2, with it on the game is just broken.

Indeed. With the power of the explosives and the mass fights that happen, FF would ruin the gameplay as you would just accidentally kill your team all the time.

It is still possible to be killed by a friendly sentry though, and very very funny when it happens! Best is when an Engi is killed by his own sentry :)

The unlockables aren't upgrades, they're alternatives ;)

After you spend 200 ammo mowing people down, there's plenty o' weapons on the floor to pick up to replenish!

I think it can only harm the engi who built it, not just any team-mate.

I rarely play as engi, but when I tend to forget this when chasing off spies :o

A couple of time I have been infront of the Friendly SG to be hit by it as im directly in line of fire of enemy.
Not always killed, but it can and does happen.

The rockets from a lvl3 sentry can harm anyone they hit directly. I dont think they do splash damage to friendlies, only the enemy, but you can most definately be killed by a friendly engis rockets, ive had it happen :)

the bullets from the gun can harm the engi too, but not sure about other team mates.
