TFT Refresh Rate?

??? ehhhh :confused:

LOL! No biggy, just to get your signature evenly aligned (the last line sticks out)...

Code:
{font=arial}{size=1}Opteron 146@ 290 x 10 @1.375v 2.10bios
Asrock DualSata2, Crucial 4gig 400mhz, (1gig x 4)
Inno3d 7600GT 615/840
Seagate SATA 250gig, Enermax 550w{/size}
{/font}

Obviously I've used { & } instead of [ & ] for font and size.

I was just thinking about replacing my 22" iiyama crt with a widescreen tft

I'm in exactly the same boat, I've got the iiyama Vison Master Pro514 22", and I'm really tempted to get that new Hyundai N91W 19" widescreen. The iiyama is such a big lump to have on your desk and I really want some widescreen action in my games.

I wouldn't do that myself. 19" widescreen is quite a bit smaller than you probably realize, especially after using a 22" (21" visible) screen. Doing a bit of maths, a letterbox 16:10 widescreen view on your 21" (visible) CRT would be bigger than the screen size of a 19" WS (16:10) screen. So you'd be getting a smaller picture even when games supported widescreen.

Your screen, 4:3, 21" diagonal = 16.8 * 12.6 inches

19" 16:10 widescreen = 16.3 * 9.8 inches

You'd also be loosing 32% of total screen area (when using your CRT full screen 4:3).

I'd be looking at the 20" and 22" WS market, which can be had for £215 (LG L204WT) and £260 (Acer AL2216W) respectively.

I have had an Iiyama pro 450 for about 8 years now, and not once have I been tempted to replace it with a 19" TFT. For a start the latter monitors don't go up to 1600x1200 anyway :(

ok i purchased a dvi cable today and my monitor now gives me only 2 refresh rate options to choose from, 60hz and 75hz.

i though that if i used a dvi cable it would only allow 60hz to work? what would be the best refresh rate to run then on this tft?

sometimes DVI is limited to 60Hz, but sometimes you can force 75Hz as a maximum. Can depend on the monitor and resolution really and what is supported. The recommended and optimum refresh rate for a TFT remains at 60Hz so i'd suggest running it at that regardless

simple answer... 60hz ;)

So I thought my default refresh rate on my 17" LCD was 60hz. But when I did some benchmarks in BF2 at 1280x1024 @ 60hz, the performance was less than expected (40-60fps). I found out via google search that my default was actually 75hz, so I changed to that value (in winXP and BF2) and reran my benches - and the performance was much better (60-90fps).

I use a DVI to VGA adapter. Vsync is not enabled.

This is my monitor: http://www.avixe.com/product/product.asp?id=87
