Ok the story (lol).I like a fool tryed for the first and last time to flash me P5B with the software that asus use in windows and yes
as most of u guessed it failed.Reboot and no post seems i cleaned the cmos/bios chip and unlike a dos flash it does not leave
any backup at all.So trying to rma that and in the mean time i thought grab a HTPC mobo for when i upgrade in a few months
and use this E6600 and it in my HTPC until i saw in grade B the Abit IX38 QuadGT Intel X38 (Socket 775)
so cheap i had to have it.But 1 hour after the order(at 11.30 pm) i find my X2 3870 wont work with and its
got bad reviews so tryed to cancel by webnote wake up ring and its been sent out.I ask could you check pls and in the end it
was found in a cage and had not been picked up yet.And they just replaced it with asus
P5E-VM HDMI Intel G35 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI which i wanted to start with.Big thanks OcUK saved my skin.
Never had the funds to buy another and wait on refund great service.

it's hard to read when it's all bunched up like that mate

press enter now and again :)

glad it's sorted

Windows flashing has also caught me out. Had to order a new BIOS chip

shaffaaf27 have you tried the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool? Useful for creating a bootable USB flash-disk.

but i have no usb stick, or does it trick the HDD into being a bootable USB, for the bios?
 How do you get-by  IMO consider a USB stick one of those things everyone has or has to have nowadays.

Use a fairly old 128MB which I found lying around in the house for BIOS flashing.

i used to always use windows, but after reading tons of people who've had problems, i always use a usb stick now :)

you can get them for about £8 for 4gb delivered, most bios's have an update utility in them now, so it's damn easy

I have flashed my BIOS from windows 20+ times (both backwards and forwards in version) over the past 12 months on Asus boards and never had an issue..
