Thanks Apple Maps for your detour suggestion

I remember Autoroute (remember that) doing stuff like that back in the 90s.

It's a good job Apple never released their self driving car or people would set off to work and never be seen again.

I tried Apple Maps in Corfu Greece last year, it wanted to take me from Corfu town to my resort about 10 miles away via a ferry to Albania!?! :D - at least you got a reason for the diversion...

I bet there are people that blindly follow things like this though.

This was a good few years ago but talking to a guy who had taken his kids to thorpe park and we used to live in north London.

He was explaining how it was such a long way and had to pay for the Dartford tunnel.

The bell end had gone the wrong way around the M25, twice........

The other week, returning from Scotland, Google maps routed me off the M6 because someone had been threatening to jump off a bridge at J33 and the resultant chaos hadn't yet cleared.

Unfortunately, it routed me off at J35 and back on at J34. So it just added 30 minutes of zigzagging across the motorway (which, every time we crossed it, I could see was running fairly well at that point), and then re-joined the M6 just in time to hit the actual jam.

I was a bit narked at that.
