That is it........She's going.

Back in January when we had those major storms I was on holiday with Paradigm and Firestar.

Parked my car at Paradigm's for the week, when I got back the drivers footwell was really quite soggy.

I traced the problem to the drivers door seal. Restored the rubber and afaik it doesn't leak water. It's always leaked wind noise and I cannot get it to stop, a little annoying really.

I was never able to get the underlay to dry out so cut it all out and replaced it with normal house carpet underlay. It never really smelt fortunately :)

It all seems fine now and has never shown signs of water leaking again.

If I had just spent a couple of thousand + on a car I would be quite gutted but as the car was £850 I can live with having to fix the odd issue now and again. If the timing and weather is right I quite enjoy it.

Was the seal disturbed when you took the door panels off for the speakers, or have they just started leaking/perished?

It has only been a recent thing, I know the speakers were working a couple of weeks ago.

It's a seal that could not be disturbed by messing with the interior as it is an external gap.

Any idea's on how much I should put my Saxo up for?

52k Miles
FSH
12 Months MOT
6 Months Tax
CAT 1 Alarm (Toad)
Mint Condition (interior/exterior)
Standard
3 owners

don't mean this in a bad way but im sure you don't care at the present time, Im so glad i didn't get a Saxo it was a choice over one and a Focus, I was very close to purchasing one aswell.

The focus was one of my options but the lack of sporty models in a reasonable insurance group, meant with stick on tat I was going to be looking at £4k+

Although it's not fair to compare a Saxo with a Focus tbh. Focus v Xsara yes.

My cousin said I should get a 1.9dt 306 today. He had one for 3 years and it didnt skip a beat mechanically. Phase 2 that is.

I know they are very good engine wise (reliabillity). I do not give a flying **** what people think of my cars. It's mine, funded by me, meaning it's my choice so dropping down to 97/98 doesn't bother me.

Looking to pick one up for £1500 and pay off the £600 insurance premium and still have some in the bank.

Will do me till uni hopefully :)

I am really angry atm. Some of you may think just deal with it.

My car doors have been leaking.......and the crossover boxes and door speakers are dripping with water.

I spent £160 alone on the speakers and they are totally destroyed. I saved up to buy them and they are destroyed

I'm never buying a french car again.

It's 5 years old and it is leaking.........how many stories do you hear of 02 plate focus' leaking?

What could be causing it?

So basically, because you noobed out when you installed your speakers, your blaming the car. Lots of cars from the saxo era get water where you have. You just need to know how to install it and place the membranes so your components are spared this.

I don't blame you for wanting rid of the saxo though they are a pile of rubish compared to what you could have had but not what your planning to get.

So your never buying a french car again yet 2 pages in you get to. Make your mind up. The 306 is no better tbh.

Eh? How many times do I have to say..........it was an external seal that could not be broken by me doing the door cards.

For me to get to the seal, I had to take the wing mirror off.

I am blaming the car because the car is leaking where citroen couldn't be arsed to do a seal.

Are you sure the drainage holes are not blocked?

Water will find it's way into the inside of most doors but should simply drain away out of the drainage holes.

Yeh, there is a plastic strip that the water now trickles down into the bottom of the door where it drips out.

Before, water was just gushing in straight onto the back of the speaker and not down the strip.

Ehh French cars...you gotta love em :) Coz i dont :D

I had a 309gti i had wet carpet for months, i could not figure it out, I changed all the door seals, hadf all the door cards off, seats out and jet whashed the underside of the car.. In the end i found that the winscreen seal has a hole in one of the corners and was letting water in :(

It was a lemon, just about everything was changed. 2 gearboxes, driveshafts wishbones, brake lines.. I had it crushed in the end... most deserving end for thwe heap'o'junk :D

I'm never buying french again.. My Alfa was soo much more reliable
