That time of year again -Deicing

Park facing east, bottle of room temperature water sprayed over the screen then use the wipers. Have only had one hard frost so far though, it's still very mild at the moment.

i used use the in car heaters. Start engine, sit for 10 mins, heater on, ice gone, warm inside and drive :)

Jesus, your car must heat up quick. My car takes ages warming up just idling.

Mine goes from around 3 Celsius coolant temp to 40 Celsius in about 3 minutes, by which point the ice in melting.

Van gets the cold water treatment as it's only just hitting the center line on the gauge after 2 miles

Dont all these pre-drive auxiliary heating things impact somewhat on fuel economy? For those of you who leave it idling for X period of time, aren't lengthy periods of idle not recommended by manufacturers?

I just use some water from the tap and a cheap ice-scraper.

As mentioned luke warm water with maybe a dash of anti-freeze in the worst weather and quickly wipe off with a silicone blade. I was thinking of using a pump sprayer this year to cut down on the spillage. Been doing it for years and had two cars with cracked and chipped screens.
