I rarely calculate calories and all that but today I did it. So here's what I ate today so far (it's not always this bad tho! lol)

Yikes! No wonder I've fattened up a little bit. I'm still yet to have my post workout meal too. Really need be more careful (I love carbs :o). Was planning to cut soon anyway.

mc donalds wow, i personally if i had a choice would never eat it again, but sometimes my cousins all go there, and its either starve or eat it, i have never went out of my own way though to go there in like over 10 years.

if you havent already, watch super size me.
 
I seem to have buggered something in my upper back, kind of between my shoulder blades.

I was doing shrugs last night (4x10 @ 100kg) and on the last set I coughed. Now if I breathe heavily, turn my head either way or put my chin on my chest I'm in agony :(

Really annoyed as I've been making some decent progress this last few weeks and now I'm sofa bound. Grrrr....
 
Sounds like strained traps/rhombs. Had something similar a few months back. Rest it up for a few days, some gentle massage (golf ball between your back and a wall) and some gentle stretching/slow mobility work. Took mine about 9 days to heal up properly.
 
My Tanita body comp. scales came an hour ago or so, jumped straight on them and was a bit shocked by the readings it gave: http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/6519/28687114.png (took 5 readings, averages at the bottom)

The only one I've previously measured is weight. We've got a basic pair of digital scales in the bathroom, and I weighed in at 197.8lbs this morning, but the Tanita scales are showing 152.6lbs. There's only 2 hours between the readings! The gym scales (analogue types) would show me around 90KG or so as well. I also expected the body fat to be 20% or so, I certainly don't have the physique to pull off a 10-11% body fat :p

Am I missing something from the readings? Where are the other scales getting the other 40lbs from? Unless my Maths is really that bad, I don't see where 40 lbs can come from out of the Tanita readings :confused: Hoping these things aren't dodgy, cost a little bit!
 
I don't know too much about that, the booklet that breaks everything down says it's about right for their estimates, quick Google suggests:

Men: Average of estimated bone mass(lb)
Less than 143lb: 5.9lb
143lb-209lb: 7.3lb
210lb+: 8.1lb

The skeleton typically accounts for quite a small amount of total body weight. For instance, bone weight in a female of 160 pounds is about 19.2 pounds, while a male who weighs 200 pounds has only about 30 pounds of weight in his bones.



Quick google for me returned the above. Typical that there is no general agreement between different websites lol

The skeleton typically accounts for quite a small amount of total body weight. For instance, bone weight in a female of 160 pounds is about 19.2 pounds, while a male who weighs 200 pounds has only about 30 pounds of weight in his bones.



Quick google for me returned the above. Typical that there is no general agreement between different websites lol

I'm actually amazed its that little, wonder how much organs weigh.

lol I have seen super size me. They guy eats everything mcdonalds for 30 days, I don't do that! :p I was just at work and didn't bring my own food and really needed eat to something quick. I don't normally eat there but if I have to, I always get the double cheese burgers because of the high protein.
 
Kicking a football in vibrams doesn't work well!

On another note the DB's at my gym are constantly loose and in need of tightening. SO much so to the point they are 'finger loose' and I can tighten them quite a bit with my fingers turning the nut. It's disgraceful.

It was only a matter of time until an accident happened and on Wednesday one of the 30's fell apart on a lad, landed on his face and broke his nose. I wasn't there but another lad who I speak to was. The lads dad came in and took lots of photo's of both his son and the weights. Much to my surprise several pairs of the DB's were still loose yesterday. It's an essential check that should be done every god damn morning!

Technically the gym is obviously liable here however I also make sure the DB's are as tight as possible in between each set to avoid something like this happening to me. So you could say it was a little bit stupid to start a set with them that loose but on the other hand it shouldn't even be a concern.
 
Wish people wouldn't walk into the locker room on their phone/ipod, it's so damn annoying having to dodge people who aren't paying attention. It's so common now it's ridiculous.

Yeah poor of the gym but as soon as you pick a DB up you know if its ok to use or needs tightening!
