Tracking a weeks worth of food/drinks on my fitness pal is the best FREE investment you can make for your body journey.

Once you track, it's saved so you don't have to scan barcodes again. When you make food, measure and make a double portion, then you have a meal already done so you're not always prepping food which I found to be a chore.

A set of scales for £10 and measure for a week what you eat. Stick to a 40, 30, 30 ratio for protein, carbs and fats each day and it's that easy.

Set ALL foods to 1g measurements in my fitness pal and just weigh out what you need to hit a certain level of calories for each meal.

I stick on youtube and prep 5 days worth of snacks (frozen protein yoghurt (strawberry), 1 scoop of strawberry cream protein powder and 80g of frozen berries. Throw the 5 tubs in the freezer and grab one if you want a sweet snack. Frozen strawberry youghurt and the berries ( I use forrest fruits so raspberries, blackberries and cherries etc) give you the tart hit to balance the sweetness of the forzen yoghurt. Gives me 40+ grams of protein each tub which is great for my 180g protein target a day.

Protein also helps keep you feeling fuller longer so you don't go hungry.

Going under 90kg, but with a good physique is good. Don't get too focused on weight as it's not the be all and end all. I'm 93kg just now (as of last night) I have been as low as 88kg but strength started to go as I wasn't eating enough maintaining levels of food. My ideal natural weight is around 90kg from what I've felt, so having the shape I've worked for and getting to the 90kg mark with cutting, will give me a good shape for summer.

Yeah I know but this is 20+ years in the making ever since I was playing rugby I've liked being bulky. In my teens I was never bulky, but wasn't skinny either and "average" weight was 83kg ish (I'm only 1m84). I'm well into my 40s now and I need to be less bulky, I just need to get my head out of that mindset. I don't compete, I do this for conditioning, fitness and general strength. I used to train for functional strength/fitness and some amateur strongman stuff, but now it's all about keeping #dadbod at bay! When I take the kids swimming it is nice that I'm an atypical 40-something year old - however my joints (knees, shoulders, elbows) struggle under high tension loads now as well, so the 250+ kg deads and squats are not going to be a defacto load for me these days.

My goals are to keep as much as my strength up, keep my functional strength/movement as much as possible, I just need to get out of my head about losing weight.

Fortunately because I have been studying nutrition and functional strength for so long it's probably kept me in good shape as a result even though I don't actively train "for" anything. I just need to get out of my head! I also like good quality foods and don't drink or smoke which probably helps too! :)

Same. I've been off the forum for a few years - I've started to dip in a little more :)

Yes it's harder now than it was - but as you say, you keep going!

Anyone got a good link for belt? I know it's no substitute for having a good core but I'd like to start thinking about one for my next training cycle.

Yep just life was busy and didn't have time for forums! I have a little more time now I'm commuting a bit more - hope all is well with you :)
indeed...the same. Yes..im good. I was working in asia for 5/6 years...i got away from all computing etc. But now im back in UK...i build a new gaming PC 3 weeks ago and started sing the forums again. Only thing i kept doing was training 4 times a week :)

Brill thanks @toxic I'll have a look.

I have the same one. 10mm minimum really, and the adjustable quick release ones I find much easier to use. For strongman stuff I'd use a belt buckle style one but that's quite specialised, for gym stuff those quick release ones are awesome.

Please don't buy a cheap flimsy bodymax style one!

You mean when you need someone else to help you take it off by standing on your stomach whilst yanking on the belt to loosen it? No? Just me then....
In my case the gym was always empty at the time so just a lot of sweating and struggling trying to pull it tight enough to get it off at the end of my workout. Almost wore it home once...

Yeap I use a strength shop one, i have a lever 3" 10mm belt because I'm a midget and my ribcage to hips cap makes wearing 4" belts very uncomfortable.

In terms of not being a substitute for a good core, belts used right actually help you develop an even better core.
