I thought I’d wait until the police had finished their info gathering and finger print dusting today before posting about this (not that it matters as it turns out)…

Basically I got up yesterday morning, went to kwik fit to get my tyre pressures pumped up (stations near here all charge for air and kf is 10 seconds down the road!). I noticed no marks on the car then and neither did the guy who did the tyre pressures as he’d have mentioned it.

Then went to get some petrol and again didn’t notice anything and after that went to work.

Parked in the rear carpark of the business estate because the front was full. I always had my doubts about the rear one as it’s kind of unattended or out of view of office windows so if I do park there I go to move the car later or at least check on it. Well I moved the car an hour or so later to the front when some bays became free and I didn’t notice anything then but then again I didn’t look at the door then, just got in quick and moved the car.
It was when I went back later to get some change I noticed that someone had written on the middle section of the driver’s side door and it was fresh too as the scratched areas were still flaking and fresh so must have been done before the morning drive or before condensation during the early hours had washed it away.

I am not really angry about it because that’s not going to help anyone, just puzzled as to why someone would do such a thing, I don’t have any enemies or anything so it just seems as if someone got out early for lunch and thought “hey I’ve seen the guy driving that car, this’ll teach him for looking after it…” or something.

I’ve reported it to the police (who did finger print dusting today and found nothing) and my workplace (who have been excellent in trying to help) but it turns out the business complex does not have CCTV coverage of my building’s carparks “yet” as it’s new so best that could be done is send out a message to all businesses asking if anyone saw anything. I have little hope this will bring any results, someone calculated doing it in their mind, they spent time digging right in with whatever tool they used.

The initial police report wasn’t that great either because I had to call back twice after 3 hours of waiting for the officers to turn up as I was told someone would be there “soon” as it was a hate crime not just some random vandalism.
They were unable to get anyone round that afternoon so I had to take my own pictures and drive to the local station after work to file my own statement. – This was not amusing really at all.

Don’t know if I can post the pics as it could be against the forum rules as the word is of racist nature (though technically incorrect as I’m not from Pakistan, the person is clearly an artard too).

It shows whoever did it had the balls to violate someone’s property and satisfy themselves but not confront the owner about their dislike in face to face. It just shows that the person is a coward of the lowest degree. I hope Karma delivers justice to them and they get hit by a bus one day….then a horse gallops over their crotch moments later and they have to have their crotch amputated.

I’ve gotten 2 quotes for the repair and it’s £150+VAT (or less if cash) from my local place who did the wing on my old car with excellent results or 170+VAT from a mate’s bodyshop near work so all in all cheaper than I thought it would be but still £150 I could have kept for better things.

**** Happens I guess and there’s no way was going to lose my insurance bonuses this year!

The problem you face here is will it happen again?

It's someone near to work and work is somewhere you'll park every day. I would hold off getting it repaired for a little while just in the small hope that someone has a conscience and shops this person in. Otherwise you might end up getting vandalised again so soon after.

The quotes aint too bad if they are spraying a whole door and blending in. Silver isn't the easiest to match though.

I hope this gets resolved although I wouldn't hold your breath. I just hope they don't do it again becasue it will go from a feeling sorry for the person to wanting to get revenge etc.

That sucks :( Sorry to hear it. I'm guessing a proper flatten and respray will be required of a door? £150 isn't too bad to have that done, I guess :)

This is absolutely disgusting, having seen the pictures I can understand why not repairing it isnt an option.

I hope the moron is caught. Really sorry to hear this.

*******s!

If the person who did this does get caught, I'm sure he/she is in some trouble. Vandalism is one thing, but (presumably) racist vandalism is considerably more serious. I hope they catch them and everything turns out well mate.

as said, i'd leave it for now as they'll probably do it again.

While that does make some sense, would you really want to keep driving around with a racist slur on your paintjob? Id want it off as soon as possible.

Sorry to hear it OP, there are some truly sad people in the world.

true, depends how bad it is though. someone that sick and desperate to do that must have planned it and been watching from nearby, so its likely they may well do it again.

if the pics aren't used in an offensive mannor, can't see it being a problem.

You could possibly cover it up using bodyshop spec masking tape and some waterproof material for the time being. If you could leave it in a viewable area the offender might take offence to you covering up their artwork and you might be able to catch them.

I don't really want to cover it up because it would stand out even more than it already does - much rather park in a front carpark bay which is in view of 3 buildings worth of offices. I have found a row of bays used by our phone company upstairs who don't mind some of us using them and it's directly below a CCTV camera but of course it's a bit of a walk from my building but tbh it's worth it for the piece of mind.

The respray job won't be the whole door just the middle section and top with the lower blended in.. The guy said colour match won't be a problem and seeing their last work I'm quite happy with his word on that :)

It is annoying aye but what can you do :/

I'm going to keep an eye out for people looking at the car every now and then and people looking as I drive to and from work. I'll be able to tell who it most likely was just looking at their face especially if they see the damage is now gone and can't do anything about it any more.

"If" they do do it again though I will take action against the building owners for not properly securing our car parks because CCTV should have been put up ages ago (my work are re-urging them to put up cameras) especially since the older buildings in the complex are all covered by CCTV just not ours as its new.

It's truly disgusting that you can't leave your car anywhere (not even in your work's carpark) without worrying that something will happen to it :(

Gutting to hear anyway mrk, hope some information comes to light and you can find the scumbag who did this.

That's disgusting. As you rightly said, it's a lowlife person with nothing worth noting about them who did this, total coward and not worthy of a single molecule of air.

On a sidenote, I had to grin at your idea of karma:
I hope Karma delivers justice to them and they get hit by a bus one day….then a horse gallops over their crotch moments later and they have to have their crotch amputated.
:D :D

Glad you can still laugh about it though, not sure i could manage in the same situation.

What a ****, unfortunately stuff like this has happened to me before, had my 306 vandalised with eggs, some chav ****'s driving past, threw eggs at my car shouting wonderfull obsceneties of a racist nature, that car was pristine and never dirty, it really really got to me then, I was a fair bit younger and let the racist nature of it really get me down.

Theres too many jealous people out there, and anyone with a nice gets targetted nowadays:(

:/

have you asked your work if they're willing to help you out towards repairing it..

it did happen on their premises yes?

Jealousy and ignorance; not a great combination. If the person(s) responsible spent their time more productively they could probably own a decent car instead of spoiling other peoples.

Sorry to hear about your situation, especially as it seems you were targeted not just your car. Any chance your work could make sure you could park in a more secure location, at least until the paint dries?
