I know this is very critical of something I haven't seen, but there is a writing style, or production style flooding hollywood films these days that is very repetative.
I can't tell if this is another book adaptation of a teen writer, but it looks very average.
Could be the trailer but I am presuming it's not, could be the director but it's probably not. It's may be some sort of production technique, I don't know, however I suspect it is something to do with making them as cheapily and quickly as possible within a template that just makes the studio money. I.e a + B = money.
