Okay so the information revolution has happened, the internet age is ongoing, so what are the 7 wonders of the digital age?
[1] Yahoo - representing the Internet, an early pioneer of the internet search domain, it helped enable access to the enormous and ever growing data. Honourable mentions to the [Router, Switch, IP and Google]
[2] The 1GB hard Disk - The dawn of the age of the hard disk was (IMO) the introduction of the 1 GB hard disk allowing for mass storage and a clear sign that the hard disk would dominate the storage market for decades. Honourable mention to the [Solid State Disc]
[3] The 8086 processor - led to the development and popularity of the PC. Without the microprocessor the information revolution and internet age wouldn't have occured at all.
[4] The compact disc - Developed by Philips (IIRC) the compact disc, it brought mass portable storage to the PC, and that's ingoring it's impact on the music industry.
Honourable mention to the [DVD, USB mass storage devices]
[5] The Laser Printer - A true corner stone of modern business, and an impressive peice of technology. The inkjet and dot matrix printers where never a real answer to the printing needs of business, the Laserjet is a master peice.
Honourable mention to the [Inkjet Printer, Buble jet printer, Dot Matrix Printer]
[6] The Apple IPhone, ignoring the many "issues" with the phone it does demonstrate the pinicle of mobile technology, in particular this product represents the advances in TFT, LiON Battery and media encoding technologies.
Honourable mention to the [ARM Processor]
[7] The windows operating system. representing software, and probably an unpopular choice. However brought PC's into the main stream.
