THIS is a bit of a flying lesson in the F1 car a few days ago (10mb).

one thing i dont understand with LFS and other 'realistic' sim driving games is that there is no fire, engine explosions, bits flying off etc. If it was a true sim game you car should hit a wall at 100, blow up and scatter bits everywhere. likewise for driving off whilst being re-fuelled and it going everywhere and hitting other cars. I damand better damage models. even in carmageddon (and 2) parts of the car could fall off

I know, i want better damage too, i also want better sounds. I think crash damage is in the to do list for the future, but i couuldnt be certain.

S'the only thing that puts me off car sims in general - lack of detailed damage RE the powertrain.

No misfires, oil pressure levels dropping, poor running, flat spots, gear problems (ignoring those that simply skip you gears etc). ....

Would be great fun :D

I demand to be flogging the last 100rpms from my Alfa twin cam as I hurl down the inside, with smoke pouring from the bonnet vents as the oil pressure gauge drops off the scale and the warning lights come on, as I squeeze by a roaring Mustang!

too much lfs for my liking so here is some rfactor screens :)

They look flipping fantastic!

Just wish I could demo it properly. Don't want to go through claiming money back if I don't like it.

LFS looks really good, i've got a few questions though

How demanding is it because the graphics look really nice?

Will a playstation style controller suffice?

GFX demanding wise, very little. I know people running max on a 9800pro.

CPU wise, its a bit of a hog. If you have a reasonable CPU then you will be fine.

A controller should be OK, but you may struggle slightly due to not having full control of the throttle.

can make use of the analogue pads. I used to use a wheel when LFS first came out but it was too much of a hassle so i sold it and now just use the mouse. Pity the clutch doesnt work how a proper clutch does in a car though e.g stall and kangaroo off the start grid.
would good to be able to melt it :o

edit - ran perfectly on my 9800pro, 2400XP in max settings (no aa)
