***The AGP & PCI-E Graphics Card Buyers Guide***

Nice work :)

The only things I might have liked to have seen in the list that aren't there is the actual (stock) gpu clock speeds and memory speeds for each card, and the amount (and possibly type) of memory they all have :)

Good suggestion - I'll start pulling that together.

Excellent work though as long as it stays very updated :D

Tell me about it :D

This not a sticky yet?

Maybe one day... :D

Updated the prices, and the new lower price of the 7300 GT GDDR3 has pushed the 7600 GS off the 'best buy' PCI-E list. ATi cards (notable the PCI-E and AGP versions of the x1950 Pro) seem to be creaping up in price for no apparent reason :D

Disagree? Let me know...

Thanks semi-pro! :)

I was mainly limiting it to the cards I would recommend people buying, rather than all AGP and PCI-E cards. Frankly there are other lists on other forums which list all cards, so I wanted to limit it the best cards for a particular price point.

I was thinking I'd be always adding new cards but since the 8800 GTS 320MB, nothing new has come out!

If anyone thinks there are any cards which are good value for money that I have missed please let me know and I will put them in.

it existed 4 days ago, and thats when the op last edited his post.

This is true. The new cards on the AGP list are generally taken/updated from the OCuk website. I'll include this AGP card though. If someone could point me at a review that would be handy...

Update follows.

sorry i meant PCI-E versions

Oh, sorry. :)

I originally left the x1950XT off the buyers guide because you can get 8800 GTS for not much more. The price of it has come down since, so I'm not sure as to whether to recommend spending more on old tech. With the 8600 GTS just round the corner, would you spend £160 on a DX9 card?

It's a close call but I think I'll still recommend saving a bit more up for an 8800 GTS or future DX10 card.

At around the £100 and below price point, the x1950 Pro and the 7600 GT are still powerful enough to recommend at that price point.

He Mish, good to hear from you.

I would get the 8800 GT, it seems to have the edge in speed, although they both seem good value for money. I personally would worry about the the noise of the 2900 Pro too much, but I haven't experienced it first hand.

I like the look of the 8800 GT, but I wonder if it would be a big enough upgrade for me from my 8800 GTS. I might be tempted by the two 8800 GT GPUs on one chip card that I heard mention of a while ago:cool:
