The Algarve

Ooof - my brother had stuff exactly like that in blotches all up both legs as a kid - they thought it was meningitis related at the time and pumped him full of all kinds of stuff - never got to the bottom of it but he recovered and is still here 30 years later fine.

EDIT: He also developed an asthma like condition before it. Sounds like he had a brush with Churg Strauss syndrome.

Possible he had a close escape.
It’s always with you if you have it, sadly. Many other thing can cause similar issues.

He doesn't seem to have had any problems since (other than an ongoing vulnerability to some kind of pneumonia type condition) but otherwise all the symptoms seem to match and they weren't able to identify the underlying cause at the time.

Well he is 1-2 in a million then. Like me, special :(

Well we have arrived.

it’s very very quiet here we took a walk down to the marina in Vilamoura which is almost empty. Our hotel is full but I don’t think others are.

I get the feeling it’s going to get very busy from this weekend onwards but at the moment it’s not bad.
Weather is bit bad also.

Thanks for all the tips guys. We rented a car so will drive around a little.
I arrived here on Sunday and have the same impression. Everywhere is empty! The hotel i just left, i was their only guest. The one before that one of two. I extended my trip a few more days as it was free to do so with ryanair and there's so much affordable accommodation about i decided i will spend a bit of time in Faro too.

I love it there. My ex gf was from there so I liked avoiding the English people and relaxing iness touristy spots.
She drove to Albufeira once, still have nightmares.

Normally stay in Alvor or Quarteira and drive around, both have quiet beaches and it's easy to day trip to smaller towns further inland etc.

Shame about the weather.

April can be touch and go, but May is usually lovely.

I can believe the nightmares, what an absolute carsey Albufeira is.
My wife had her dental implants done there 20 plus years back by a Belgian dentist, he did a first class job.
It was done over 6 to 9 months, with 3 separate trips out there.
I rented a tiny apartment in Tunes each time, about 10 km north of Albufeira.
Even with flights, car rental, and apartment rental, plus the dentist bill, I came out well in front of the price asked in U.K.
