The Kalyazin RT-64 radio telescope may look abandoned, but it is an active Russian observatory. It was built in 1974 and has been in operation since 1992. In 2016, it took part in the Astrobiology Program in collaboration with ESA, Roscosmos and ExoMars. A team of 17 scientists uses it to study pulsars, white dwarfs and distant galaxies. This powerful telescope helps unravel cosmic mysteries, from faint stars to objects in space.
