Believe what? that Dark matter/energy exist? Because they categorically do exist. We can't see them, but directly, but we can see the affect they have on everything in the universe, so indirectly speaking, they 100% exist, and one day we will be able to see/use that potential energy as technology gets better.
There is a force that is evidently acting on everything in the universe, therefore it has to exist, and that is currently labelled as dark energy/matter. Once new information about it is known as technology advances, science will adjust what it is/named etc and new knowledge will be gained. For now that force/forces name is dark matter/energy - There's no disputing that. If something it causing things to do a thing, then that something has to exist, whether we can actually see or measure it directly or not.
