Hawker Typhoon 1b JP677 QC-P of 168 Sqn, force-landed on Brighton beach, November 26th 1944. Pilot F/Lt J. K. Brown was escorting a VIP (Air Marshal Breadner, AOC in Chief RCAF Overseas) back from the continent. (Air base B.78 Eindhoven)
Took off at 15.10 with four others for an escort of VIPs to England. Crash-landed on the beach at Brighton, Sussex. Pilot (133019 F/L John Keilder Brown RAFVR) injured and taken to Haywards Heath Hospital with fractured skull, concussion and lacerated forehead. Brown had only joined the squadron earlier that month.
